This week was hectic to say the least. After that meeting that I didn't go to everyone was worried about being cut off, and everyone was rushing around as if putting hours in now was going to help. I was worried about multiple things aside from being fired. I had Chris to worry about, of course that was 24/7 though, I had to worry about if I was fired what I would do. I've been brushing it all off lately though, and just trying to focus on doing whatever work Brad had for me. Brad had been more tense lately, less than the day of that meeting, we've been talking a little and getting to know each other. I learned that he was originally from London, he had been married for five years, and he had two daughters.
We were sitting in Brad's office, just having small talk and working on papers and emails like we were supposed to be doing, and the phone rang. Brad picked it up and I just watched as his face turned pale, and he spoke quietly to whoever was on the phone.
"Yes.. I'll be right up there." Brad said quietly, and then he hung the phone up. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at him curiously, and he just shook his head. "Robin's in.. Wants to see me in his office." Brad murmured, and he left his office without another word. Was Brad fired? I took a deep breath. If Brad was fired and had been here for awhile, I was definitely off.. But how would it be my fault? I just started here about two weeks ago.. I continued on with the emails that needed done, waiting for Brad to return, but it seemed like my work day went by completely. When I was walking out of the office I ran into Tyler, the jerk I met the first day I started here, and he had this twisted smirk on his face.
"You're still here? Thought you would have left by now." Tyler said, and I raised my eyebrows just looking back at him. I shook my head and crossed my arms.
"Wel, yes I work here. Of course I'd still be here." I mumbled, rolling my eyes at his ignorance. Tyler seemed to look confused, crossing his own arms as well.
"Work? You mean worked? Robin sent Brad in to fire you earlier. Brad hasn't talked to you yet?" Tyler asked, laughing, clearly happy that I was gone.
"No, Brad didn't talk to me. Look, I don't know what your problem is, because I don't even know you, yet you act like I've done something to effect you personally." I snapped, shaking my head. Tyler seemed surprised that I stood up for myself for once and he looked angrier too.
"Hey, Don't get pissed at me for letting you know you sucked at your job. I'm the one who's still here after all." Tyler said with a smirk. I was still pissed that Brad didn't talk to me about it. He hadn't been back in his office all day, he was obviously avoiding me. I shook my head again and pushed past him roughly to leave that place, knocking his brief case out of his hand. That must have ticked him off because before I could leave he grabbed my arm and pulled me back, anger washing over his face as he brought his fist forward and punched me in the stomach, knocking the wind out of me. I coughed and stumbled backwards, the pain in my stomach making me want to scream.
"Watch where you're fucking going, kid." Tyler snapped, picking his brief case up before he left, probably so no one saw what he just did. I bit my lip and held my stomach as I left. I had no job now, and I knew it would be hard for me to get a job anywhere because of my lack of experience. I was so furious at Robin too. He just let me be fired when he's the one who gave me the job? That meant I couldn't stay with my mum, because that would turn out bad if I got into an argument with Robin, it would only stress my mum out, which meant I couldn't let her know I was now unemployed. Where the hell was I supposed to stay? All of mine and Chris' things were in our house, and we only rented it, so now without a job I wouldn't be able to pay bills.
I took a deep breath as I walked in the front door of my house, kicking my shoes off and removing my coat before I went and sat down at the kitchen table. I looked at all the mail on the table, all of it was bills. Rent was 550 a month, and that was the biggest bill I had every month, so I knew I was screwed. Rent was the most important. I would get a check every month from where Chris is in the army, but I wasn't sure when that was going to come, and the bills were due soon. Hopefully the check would come soon. Chris had talked to me about it, he told me it would be best if I got a job, because the checks were all over the place and it was hard to tell when they would come most of the time. I knew that already though, because of the last time he was deported.
