"Sofia, where are you?" I heard dad yelling for me. "I'm right here, dad." I said to him, calmly. "What did you do?" He yelled at me again. "I don't know what your talking about, dad." I answered him. "Don't play dumb with me, what did you do?" He yelled at me again. "I don't know what I did, dad. And can you please stop yelling at me?" I asked him. He threw his hands up in frustration and left me.A while after dad left me, mom came in. "Hey Sofia, what went on with you and your father?" She asked me. "He accused me of doing something I didn't do." I told my mother. "Well, sweetheart, may be he's just a little angry and he's taking out all the anger on you. Just don't take it too seriously, okay sweetheart." Mom explained to me calmly then left my room.
Mom was right, I can let dad put me down. I walked out of my room to talk to dad about what I did. I searched around the house for him but I couldn't find him. I finally found him in the family room packing his bag. "Dad, can we talk?" I asked him but he didn't listen to me. "Dad!" I called him, he didn't hear me. "DAD!" I yelled at him. I got his attention. "What do you want, you little brat?" He spat at me. I flinched. "I was thinking that we could talk about what I did to upset you," I suggested.
"No, Sofia. What you did doesn't deserve to be talked about," He added. He put his bag on shoulder and went towards the door. Before he left he said to me, " I don't love you anymore." I know that he is going through and mom said to not to take it seriously, but I took this seriously. Tears started to run out my eyes. My stomach started to hurt me.
I tried to hold back the tears but I couldn't. I ran back into my room and cried on my bed. Mom found me crying on my bed and sat beside me. "Sofia, what happened with your father?" She asked me. "Everything went horrible, mom." I said crying. "He told me that he doesn't love me anymore, mom." I told her.
I didn't know what to do now. My mom was speechless. "Sofia ,your father doesn't mean that. He still love you." She tried to vouch for him. "You didn't see how his face was like I did. His face was blank. He had no emotions when he said it," I said to her.
"Do you still love me, mom?" I asked her. " Yes, Sofia, I do. Why would you ask something like that?" She asked me. I couldn't answer her. "Listen to me, Sofia, even though your father stopped loving you, I will never stop loving you, Sofia." She pointed out to me.
"Heart beats fast," she began singing.
I stopped crying for a while.
"Colors and promises
How to be brave
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt, suddenly goes away somehow," she continued to sing"One step closer
I have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand moreTime stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything, take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath, every hour has come to thisOne step closer
I have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand moreAnd all along I believed, I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more" she continued to sing."One step closer
One step closerI have died everyday, waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand moreAnd all along I believed, I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me, I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more" she finished singing. I started to smile again."See Sofia, I will always love you, no matter what happens. "She said while rubbing her thumb on my cheek. She hugged me and hugged her back, tightly.
