A week had passed, and Lance showed no signs of waking up at any time in the near future. Keith hadn't really attempted to occupy himself at all in that time. He never did anything besides kill, so he didn't know of any leisure activities he could do while he sat in silence by the window.
He did fiddle with his knife from time to time, paying attention to it as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.
He knows he received the blade from his mother, when he was just an infant, but he doesn't really remember anything at all about either of his parents. For some reason he just felt a connection with his weapon.
It had been silent all week, with the occasional doctor coming in to check on Lance. That changed when he heard unfamiliar voices approaching the door. His gaze shifted as the door slid open.
Now in the doorway, stood the other two employees that had been present on that night. The smaller one froze upon seeing him, but her shock quickly turned into rage.
"Wh..What are you doing here..?!" The petite girl stormed over to him, prepared to show him every ounce of her anger.
Keith frowned and stood up, his blade in hand as he was approached. He didn't necessarily care about how she or anyone else felt about the situation. Hunk followed behind the girl, however he showed more fear than anger toward the assassin.
"Why would a heartless person like you be in here?! Were you planning to kill him now?! Haven't you already done enough?! If you so much as lay another finger on him I'll end you myself!"
"P..Pidge, maybe it's not such a good idea to make threats to the psycho ninja killer..!" Hunk tried his best to stop her, his eyes quickly going from Keith to Pidge, then back again.
Keith looked down at her with an intense stare. He gripped the hilt of the blade in his hands, suddenly feeling the urge to cut something. "If you're smart then you'll listen to the fat one." This remark, while not actually bothering Hunk so much, set off the other, as she angrily adjusted her glasses and clenched her fists tightly. "I'll have you know, I'm a billion times smarter than a brainless guy like you."
Having had enough, Keith swung his arm up, and rather quickly brought it down to strike this girl, but he stopped, as a faint voice was heard behind him.
"Ngh.." All three of them froze, then looked back. Completely forgetting the dispute, everyone had their full attention to the boy who now had his eyes open, if only just a little. Deep blue orbs slowly looked around, squinting as he was attacked by bright lights that were above.
He attempted to sit up, but just one small ounce of movement took everything out of him.
"Oh my gosh, Lance!!" Hunk hurried to his side, while Pidge passed Keith, barely refraining from embracing the bed ridden boy. Keith didn't move from where he stood, just watching with crossed arms as the three of them had their moment.
"Lance, are you okay??? How are you feeling?? Can you hear? Do you know who I am?? What's one plus one??" The wounded boy took a moment, shutting his eyes again before answering.
"Ugh..Purple.." Pidge went into a fit of worry, hearing his obviously wrong answer. "No that's wrong..!!" Hunk just let out a small, heartfelt laugh, taking the answer as a joke, since it was his best friend after all.
Lance gave them a weak smile, as it was all he could do for the time being. He was glad to see that his friends were okay. He watched them fret over him, until his eyes landed on the quiet boy standing just a few feet away from them. His smile slowly faded at the sight.
He wasn't currently looking in the direction of the reunion, and his arms were crossed. He was holding a weapon in his hand, but he showed no signs of murderous intent towards him. He actually could say he looked quite relaxed. He wasn't wearing the dark clothing anymore either.
Lance observed him, taking in his appearance, and not listening to the two friends crying with joy by his bedside. He was smaller than he appeared the first time they'd met, probably because he wasn't wearing anything that would conceal his figure. He wore a cropped zip up jacket, that was red, yellow, and white and a maroon bandanna around his neck. Underneath it was a gray shirt, and he wore fitted black pants, with what looked like a utility belt around his waist, with only one case that was for the knife he held.
After a bit of staring, Keith finally noticed the pair of eyes that were undoubtedly on him. He looked at Lance, his expression hardening just a bit.
The dark haired boy raised an eyebrow, wondering why the patient was looking at him. Lance tried to speak, but found himself short of breath, so he had to just settle with facial expressions. From this alone, Keith could gather what it was he wanted to ask. 'Why did you try to kill me,' and 'Are you still going to make an attempt on my life,' and such.
Keith shut his eyes, and averted his eyes once again. "I'm not gonna try again." This was all he said, since him speaking at all sent Pidge back into her mode of anger. "Shut up You-"
"Keith, is my name." He said to her, in a very irate tone. Hunk held her back from marching up to the assassin again, in order to preserve all of their lives. "Uhm, well, Keith, if you don't mind me asking, just, ya know, for a general understanding, why are you here..?" Hunk did try to be as polite as he could so that he wouldn't anger him.
Keith said nothing in response to his question, but just put away his knife. He figured there was no use trying to explain himself, as even he didn't know why he was waiting around like this. He knew when he wasn't wanted.
The dark haired boy just turned, pulling his bandanna over his mouth and nose, and headed for the door, shoving his hands in his pockets. The other two in the room just watched him go, clearly relieved that he chose to do so.
Lance, Who'd been quiet since the laying eyes upon the assassin, found his voice and decided to speak up for just a moment, despite the effort taking energy out of him. His words were a bit broken up, but he was still speaking a bit better than he had been just moments ago.
"K-Keith.." He breathed out, his eyes glued to him. Pidge and Hunk looked down at him, curious as to why he chose to call him out. "Stay..." He shut his eyes again, exhausted already from speaking. The three visitors were shocked by Lance's soft words. Pidge and Hunk were because their dear friend was asking the person who made an attempt on his life, to stay with them in the hospital room, and Keith was shocked because he actually felt insistent to listen to him.
It was a wonder to him too why his presence was necessary, but he chose not to question it. A light sigh escaped his lips, and he pulled down his bandanna once again, turning to stand with his back against the wall beside the door, crossing his arms and saying nothing. Of course, he still could have just left, since he had free reign to do as he pleased, but something about this guy had a weird affect on him, so he would just obey for the time being.
Pidge scoffed, but crossed her arms and quietly sat in a chair. It was obvious she was uncomfortable with Keith being there, and as was Hunk. However, if it was their friend's wish for the assassin to stay there then they would have to put up with it.
Unfortunately, they would have to wait for an explanation, because the effort of speaking caused Lance to fall asleep. With questions on all of their minds, the three of them were now playing the waiting game.
Hey there~ Sorry for the short wait, most of the chapter deleted itself and it made me upset so I ditched it for a couple of days ^^' But here's chapter three! I hope you all enjoy it!
