Class

The day starts with the cold wind blowing North Eastwards. I probably should be getting ready for class. We are studying about looping today. Speaking of loop, I keep thinking of that one person I want so badly in my life. I wish things had been different. Maybe if I would have said something different, now I wouldn't be feeling like something is missing. Just...maybe. I look down at the bracelet I had bought specifically for her on Valentine's Day. It's been months since I saw her. Will I get to see her again? I decide to put it on after I realised I couldn't get her... as a reminder that I couldn't get everything I want. That's just how everything is threaded.

I meet my friend Ben at the parking lot like we always do. As we walk to class, he starts boasting about his girl. Damn! Does he always have to? I hate him so much for doing that. He knows it, that's why he does it every time. That's what best friends do best.

When we get to class, the lecturer starts by saying,

"We have a new student joining the class. Would anyone be willing to share notes and help the student?"

Everyone goes quiet so he looks at me and says,

"You wouldn't mind, would you? I've seen your notes."

"Nope," is all I say.

He is my friend and also one of my favourite teachers. He has seen my notes at one point since he started teaching me, and he was impressed. I feel someone tapping my shoulder to ask if I have an extra pen.

"Keep it," I say passing the pen without even looking.

The less faces I have to look at, the more I get to avoid small talk. I don't even understand how Ben became my best friend. People ask that question every time but all we do is shrug. We just know we are. After class is over, Ben asks if I'm gonna join him in the library with his girlfriend. We all have to start the research for the English class. I finally agree and as we leave, a voice behind me says,

"Excuse me."

I feel a chill go through my body as I turn. Her long black hair folded at the bottom, her eyes shining and her smile inviting. Her beauty dazzles me every time I think about her but looking at her now tells my mind that I have not been doing her any justice in the few months. Ben punches me and I realise that I had frozen because he is laughing his lungs out. She continues,

"I'm Aji, the new student. Thank you in advance for your notes and also for the pen. I'm sorry for the disturbance I caused."

How could I be so lucky? I say,

"Hi, I'm Tony and don't worry. It's okay."

In my head, I'm screaming, "it's her! Yes!"

"My friend and I are heading to the library, would you like to join us so you can start writing the notes? It's a load."

Thankfully she accepts the invite and as we walk to the library, I can't help stealing glances at her. She really is a beauty. I just hope she can be my beautiful angel.
