She lived quite a normal life until she was six. In kindergarten, where she spent five splendid years, she was the smartest girl and the teachers adored her for she was well behaved and always did what the teachers told her to do. By the time she was six everything changed when her mother got married to another man and went to America. She then had to live with her father who was rather harsh to her. A lady was living with her father; she would call her stepmother, at that time this lady was pregnant. Her father loved this woman dearly and so gave all his attention to her the lady also paid her no attention. She became lonely as she was used to being paid attention to. As a result of not getting any attention she took the advantage of not doing any homework and to get attention for once, she would misbehave rather offensively. Her father not wanting to make his lover think badly of him would brutality beat his daughter. She was determined to get more attention so continued to misbehave, her father got tired of beating her so even paid less attention to her. She realized that her bad behaviour was not working so eventually stopped. She became lonelier as for not getting any attention she was not allowed to watch TV. Her life was incredibly a torture to her. At school she became less favourite to her teachers as she did no homework and was not as smart. Her so called friends would sometimes mock her but at that because she was just six she always forgive them when they wanted to be her friend again. Years passed and she became sadder sometimes she would look at the one picture she had of her mother and cry for she missed the feeling of love and affection towards her. She never blamed her mother for leaving her for she knew that an opportunity like that came once in a lifetime; her mother worked in a pharmacy and got a low pay she also came from a poor family and for a rich foreigner to fall in love with you and gives you the opportunity to go to America. She finally found another way to express her feeling; she started to share her feelings in a notebook she kept as a journal. Little did she know that her stepmother searched her room, maybe for the fun of getting her into trouble- she did this while she was away at school. That evening she came home tired from the hustle and bustle at school- not that she did a lot of school work, she fell right on the bed and fell asleep. That night she woke up from the voice of her father. He was asking her why she wrote those things in her diary. It’s not like she wrote really horrible things she just expressed her deepest feelings as a child. Her stepmother in her stupidity packed her belongings and left the house that same night. The father got really upset at this and so scolded his daughter in an imprudent way. Her father wanting his wife to come back sent his daughter to live with her grandmother- her mother’s mother.
This is an extract from her journal soon after she became twelve:
March 13, 1985
Dear journal,
I really miss mom but what can I do? Dad never pays attention to me. My stepmother, I hate her, even when dad is about to let me die from the harsh beatings she never tells his to stop. What did I do in my past life to receive this punishment? If I did nothing I want revenge- I hope that child dies in her belly.
