lost magic

chapter 1

I was tending to my sick mother when she started talking briefly over a whisper.
"after I die, you my child, must run away as soon as you can. Don't pack everything... But what you need. They will kill you the day after my death so run away when the town sleeps... " she had managed to say before her head fell to the side and all color in her eyes disappeared.

"no... Mother please wake up... MOTHER! " I cried as the villagers walked in to see about what the ruckus was.

One villager named Tom grabbed me by the arm and started pulling me away from mother. He never let me go as screamed and cried while my mother was carried away.

"we will come get you tomorrow. " Tom whispered in my ear as he then let go of me and quickly left to clean his hands since he touched me to hold me back.

After Tom and the rest of the villagers left, I moved to one corner of the room and curled up into a ball, beginning to cry for the death of my mother.

*time skip* later that day

I started packing what I needed. A blanket, food, water, etc. I then watched and waited for the last person in town to sleep. And no I'm not a stalker! After they fell asleep I ran. I ran threw the woods as far as i could get before sun rise.

I don't know how long I've been running but the villagers should be waking up soon to notice i fled. I kept running anyways until I collapsed. I slowly got up and force myself to climb up a tree so they won't find me since I made it to an opening. I also turned myself invisible as I waited for the villagers to leave. I waited for awhile till my eyes started getting heavy from the lack of sleep. I then fell of into a deep sleep hoping the villagers. Don't find me.

*time skip* the next day

I woke up to the sound of a dog barking at my invisible self and a boy around the same age as me trying to stop the dog from barking.

"there is nothing up there Jessica" the man said.

I was able to hear what any animal was saying and so I listened to what the dog was saying.

"Hi I am Jessica and this is my master Sho... And yes I can see you and yes I'm barking at you... I'm protecting my master from you since he still hasn't found,  in animal terms,  his mate so I must protect him from every female! " Jessica said.

Sho then yelled the dogs name really loud.  It scared me enough that I accidentally turned visible and fell out of the tree. I screamed since I was on the highest branch. I then saw Sho look up at me and he caught me.

"your Sho right? A lovely dog you have there and thank you from saving me... I don't know what I would of done if you-" I was cut off by Sho yelling.

"what is your name? Why were you up there? Where did you come from and why? " his hissed.

" my name is Pina Skydram, I was hiding from my village, my village name is the Sky village and the reason I ran is bc they swore to kill me after my mother's death since she conceived a "witch" as they like to call us magical beings. " I said in one breath hoping he didn't bring me to my death appointment.

"how did you know my name? " he asked.

" so many questions, " I mumbled but then spoke up, "I can talk to any animal I like.  Your dogs name is Jessica, your Sho, and Jessica is a female protecting you from other females because supposedly you haven't found, in animal terms,  your mate aka in human terms your soulmate. "
