Chapter 2

While Cherie’s heart broke every second she drove, she was furious. Furious that something like this had happened to her. She, in a hundred years, would have never guessed she would be one of the poor souls to have their heart broken by a cheating partner.

‘Jerk, stupid cheating moron.’ She cursed under her breath.

As she drove, she paid no attention to where she was going, just having to turn when she felt was the right time. She had no care in the world at the moment. When Cherie stopped at a red traffic light, her thoughts drifted.

She thought back to when they first met. That cocky, funny but sweet at the same time kind of a guy was her Brody.

~

Cherie’s cheeks burned as Brody leaned against her locker.

“I think there's something wrong with my eyes because I can't take them off you.” Brody grinned. Cherie blushed harder.

“I hope you know CPR, because you take my breath away!” Brody winked.

He chuckled, ‘When are you going to answer me, Cherie? Did you know though? You look a lot like my next girlfriend.’ Cherie cheeks burned more than she thought were possible. She looked down while gripping her books to her chest and bit her lip. Suddenly, she felt a soft but rough hand on her cheek, making her look up towards him. With his hand caressing her cheek,

‘Do you have a map? Because I just keep getting lost in your eyes’ as he looked deeply into her eyes. Cherie couldn’t take her gaze off of his beautiful sea green-blue sparkling eyes.

‘I know we just met like…this morning, but I want to ask you out. I want to ask you out on a date. There’s just something about you, Cherie. Something that captivates me. So, what do you say? I guarantee you, you can slap me if you don’t like the date in the end… maybe a kiss?’ he winked, teasingly.

Cherie giggled, ‘Sure Brody. It’s worth a shot. I’ve got to get to class, I’ll see you later.’ She blushed and as she started to walk away, he shouted,

‘I’ll pick you up tomorrow at 7!’

~

Cherie then thought about their first kiss. A tear cascaded down her cheek as she thought about how sweet and gentle he was. Oh Brody.

~

It was their third date and Brody decided to take her for a picnic and stargazing afterwards. As they finished their sweet picnic, it was about 10pm. The stars were out. As they both lay on their backs, with Brody’s arms crossed behind his head and Cherie’s head on his chest, Brody chuckled.

Curious, Cherie lifted her head to look at him, ‘what?’ she asked with quirked eyebrows.

‘It’s just that that star over there’ He pointed to a star and Cherie followed his direction.

‘There’s so many stars, what are you talking about? Which one are you pointing at, doofus.’

‘That one. The brightest one.’

‘Which – oh. That one?’ She pointed.

‘The one that’s the brightest, yeah.’

‘What about it? Wait, don’t say anything dirty. It’s romantic right now, don’t ruin it.’ She warned.

Brody chucked a light chuckle, ‘Do I really disgust you?’

Cherie giggled and blushed, looking down and whispered, ‘not one bit.’

Brody brought his finger to Cherie’s chin and lifted it so he could see her eyes.

He smiled, ‘Good because you don’t disgust me one bit either. Quite the opposite, really. However, I was going to say, that that star over there… It reminded me of something.’

‘What?’

‘Your eyes.’

‘My eyes?’ she questioned.

‘Whenever I see you smiling or laughing or overall, more like happy. Your eyes sparkle. It’s real cute.’

Cherie blushed, ‘You’re good with words, you know that?’

‘Only with you, Cher’

Both gazed into each other’s eyes and after awhile of having a silent conversation with their eyes, he suddenly started to lean in. His eyes flickered to her lips and then to her eyes as if asking for permission to kiss her. She answered by leaning in with red cheeks.

As their lips touched, sparks ignited in both of their bodies. It was a sweet and short kiss. His lips brushed hers and then added more intensity and pressure to it. After awhile, they broke apart but both had their foreheads touching each others. Brody had a large grin on his face while Cherie couldn’t stop blushing and biting her lip. Brody took the chance to peck her lips once more and wrapped his arm around her and pulled her to him as they continued to watch the stars silently. Both knew that there was something strong between the two of them but silence was the only thing that was right at that moment.

~

Cherie sighed. Brody. Why? What have you done? Why did you do this to me? To us?

An angry shout and a loud rumble of an engine broke her thoughts and she came back to reality. She looked at her rear view mirror and saw an angry, pissed off biker. Being short tempered, he cut to the next lane and when he passed her unmoving car, he glared at her.

More anger flooded through her veins and she did the least she expected she would do. She flipped him the bird.

‘Ass’ She muttered.

She pressed onto the pedal and her car started to move. She saw that the pissed off biker was riding a dark blue motorcycle. He was wearing a black leather jacket that sculpted his body wonderfully and a helmet that matched. A black helmet that covered that mysterious pissed off face. Something that flickered in her mind was the eyes. The eyes that glared at her when he passed her car. They were truly captivating is all she could say. They were a dark hazel color but had specs of gray if that were possible. It was definitely beautiful. Too bad his eyes didn’t match his short tempered ugly attitude, she thought.

She wiped away her tears and just drove. Drove to who knows where, leaving behind the pain she was trying so hard to avoid, leaving Brody and his slut, leaving the memories, and leaving that homemade coffee on Brody’s office floor.

For now.
