20 minutes earlier

Soldier Marcus watched as soldier Kevin killed the infected in the middle of the street. "You idiot! No everyone's going to come outside." Soldier Marcus says watching citizens step out their homes. "The colonel told us to take them down, no matter what. How did it even get here?" Soldier Kevin says looking down at the infected. People surround them in a circle, a girl, long curly hair comes rushing out, getting into the circle, looking straight down at the infected, frozen. "Please, get back inside." Solider Kevin says backing everyone away.

A boy comes out trying to back the girl away, saying her name as she stared down at the infected. Thunder stroke loud, seconds later, rain poured down on them, the soldiers headed inside their house, meeting the colonel. "Sir, we took down an infected in the street. We don't know how it got here, but we're planning a perimeter check as soon as the rain clears." The colonel coughs, "Good."

The radio phone rings, and a soldier answers it. "Hello? Yes. Colonel, it's for you."
He walks over to the table limp, grabbing the phone. "This is colonel Frank, what's the situation?" "Sir, we have multiple enemies inbound towards the counties. There's to many to hold off, we can't take them." "What do you mean heading towards the county? Your job was to keep them away!" "There's to many of them, to many civilians to fire. We can't kill them without killing the civilians. We need a evacuation NOW sir!" The colonel rubs his eyes. "Get the hell outta there soldier, retreat back to base! We will meet you there." "Yes Sir understood. The colonel says retreat back to base, move out!" And the call ended. "Soldiers attention! We move out as soon as the rain clears. Infected are heading this way." The soldiers stand and listen to the colonel. "We retreat back to base, no further questions. Let's pack it up!" And the soldiers listen, packing up everything into a crate, and placing it inside the back of the convoy.

Arizona County - One Mile

A hoard of infected made their way down the long road, to Arizona county, where the soldiers and colonel were sectioned. The perimeter squad was a mile down, behind them, a half mile down to the county were their squad was holding up. "Man, I'm getting sick and tired of waiting for an infected to show up." A solider says smoking a cigarette inside their hut-like tent they set up. "Yeah, and this rain isn't doing us any good." An other soldier says. "Get off your asses! We got one incoming!" A soldier out side the hut-like tent yells to them. Four soldiers kneel down and hold their ground waiting for the incoming enemies.

Up the road, one emerges, and the soldier behind them fires, knocking it down. A few more appear, and the four soldier kneeling down take them out. "I think that's all of the-" The soldier is tackled to his side, his neck being ripped opened and eaten. "Multiple enemies coming from the woods, fire!" But there was to many, to quick for the soldiers to react, and within minutes, all five soldiers were eaten up, and the rest of the hoard down the road that the soldiers didn't notice, emerged, and made their way past the perimeter check point, and into the Arizona county.

The Attack

"INCOMING! INFECTED!" A soldier yells firing at the crowd of infected making their way into the circle. Mikey ran down stairs to Benny and I grabbing my arm. "Blaire! What's happening?" He asked me. I can't believe this! Their here! They can't be! I couldn't freak out, Not now or we'll all DIE! "Mikey their here! We have to go!" I say looking at him. "Stay very close to me, were getting out of here." Quickly I head up stairs into the hallway bathroom where I rummaged through the hamper to find the pistol that I took from inside the convoy that was under my jeans. Quickly placing it in between my belt, I ran down stairs seeing Benny fighting one off. It pushed him into the couch making him fall over, as it jumped on him trying to bit down on his face, he grabbed its arms to pull back.
