The Trick

Mew Mew, Maggots!

You sat in the kitchen, dreaming away while listening to Pyro's humming. Scout was playing videogames with Heavy while Medic just sat around and played some cards with Spy and Sniper.

You looked up as the door opened.

Soldier stormed inside, seeming furious.

"WHICH MAGGOT DID THIS?!" He yelled as he pointed at his hat and his pants. There were two kitty ears attched to his helmet and a tail to the back of his pants. Scout snorted and started laughing hysterically. Sniper tried to hold in his laughter while Heavy and Medic joined Scout.

You chuckled.

"Ya'll better tell me who did this, or it is hell for EVERYONE." Soldier said. Then everybody fell silent. They knew what he meant with that. Minutes of silence passed.

"Well?" Soldier crossed his arms.

Another minute passed and you stuck up your hand.

"i did it, Soldier..." You confessed. The next moment he picked you up and slung you over his shoulder, taking you outside the room. You slammed on his back, demanding him to let you go. You heard him walking down quite alot of stairs. A door opened and you were thrown down on a cold, hard floor. You winced as you hit the ground, looking up at Soldier.

"You must learn to show some respect, and if that means I'll have to treat you like the lowest lifeform on this planet, then so it be." He turned around, about to leave. Your eyes watered, and the next moment you started to sob into your hands, making him look back.

"What are you crying about." He said harshly, making you whine. He sighed and walked up to you, kneeling down and pulling up your face, forcing you to look up at him.

"What is it."

"I.. I just wanted to..--" He didn't let you finish your sentence.

"TO HUMILLIATE ME?!! WELL CONGRATULATIONS, YOU DID!!!" He pushed your face away roughly, making you fall on the hard floor once again.

"I WANTED TO MAKE YOU SMILE, GODDAMMIT, WHY DON'T YOU EVER LISTEN TO WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY..?!!" You yelled, hiccupping and sniffing uncontrollably.

Soldier lifted up his helmet to show his emerald green eyes wide with shock at your sudden outburst. You stared at him, sobbing, completely out of breath. He then sat back down next to you and looked at you.

"Talk." He said. You wiped off your tears and told him why you've done it. Eventually you started breaking down into sobs again. After a while he wrapped an arm around you and pulled you close to his warm body. he looked down at you.

"You don't have to stunt around like that to make me smile or laugh.. The only thing you have to do is stay close to me..."

The next thing you saw, was the most beautiful smile you saw in your whole life.
