Hearing my phone vibrate in my pocket, I resisted the urge to check it as I tried my best to pay attention in my A&P Lab. Writing rapidly in my notebook, I was trying my best to keep up with the professor's PowerPoint before he switched the slides.
For our midterm grade in this class, we were going to be assigned into groups and dissect a mink because he said it was one of the most common animals that had anatomy similar to a human. To be honest, I was not looking forward to this. Not because of the dissecting, but because of the group factor. I had never been a fan of groups and it seemed like I was the only one to ever do the work. As I sat there and tried my best to draw a diagram of a mink on to my notebook paper, I prayed that I would have sufficient group members.
After what seemed like forever, we had finally made it to our last slide. This slide contained information on when our midterm was suppose to be and where to come to find our group members at a later date. Jotting down the information, I quickly closed my binder and got up to leave. This was my last class for Tuesday and I couldn't wait to get home and relax.
Walking out of class, I checked my phone and saw I had one message from Scotty...."Everything is going to be okay." Not bothering to text him back, I knew I would see him soon. Slipping my phone back in my pocket, I prayed that he was right, and I hoped that Ashley would be in a better mood when I got home.

Pulling into the apartment complex, I grabbed my purse and books from the passenger seat before making my way upstairs. Surprisingly, the door was already unlocked and when I walked in, I heard hangers knocking against each other in the other room. Putting my books and purse down, I walked into Ashley's room. She was standing there wrapped in a towel, her hair still damp, and throwing all of her shirts on the bed from her closet.
Leaning against the doorway, I crossed my arms and stared in her direction. What exactly was she doing? Had she not heard me come in? Was she that distracted? I wondered if I asked her, if she would bite my head off like she had the past two days. Still, I took my chances.
With her back towards me, she was shuffling through her closet, taking a shirt out and putting it back in every so often. Trying to stifle a laugh, I asked, "Ash, what are you doing?"
Jumping a little as if I scared her and not realizing until this point that I had walked in, she turned towards me..."Oh Gabi, I'm so glad you're home. I'm having a fashion meltdown. I have nothing to wear!"
Looking towards the bed at the mass amount of shirts covering the bedspread, leaving it almost invisible, I couldn't help but to smile. You see, Ashley was never one to really care what she looked like. She would take sweatpants and t shirts any day over being cute and classy. Still, she had those clothes in her closet that every girl has, only meant to be worn when something exciting happened.
Still leaning against the doorway, I smiled, and asked, "Where is he taking you?"
Holding up two shirts to her chest in the full length size mirror, she looked confused..."What are you talking about?"
Making my way towards the bed, I moved some shirts out of my way to find a bare spot and leaned back on my left arm...."Austin, where is he taking you?"
Putting one of the shirts she was holding back in the closet, she asked, "How did you know?"
I laughed, "Well for starters, you haven't said more than two words to me in the past two days and then today I walk in and you're begging for me to help you find something to wear. Now, you never care what you wear unless it has something to do with a boy. If you put two and two together, it's not hard to figure out."
