*April's POV*
I looked at the clock. 7:30 pm. The loud pounding at the front door continued.
"I'm coming, I'm coming."
I looked through the peep hole and saw two police officers. I opened the door quickly.
"Hi officers, how can I help you?"
They asked to come inside and of course I said yes.
"What is your relation with Malaysha Hampshire?"
"Malaysha?" I looked at them confused. "I'm her best friend. Is something wrong?"
They looked at each other and then back at me. "When was the last time you seen her? Where and what time?"
"The mall. We were doing some summer shopping. What's going on?"
"April, please. Have a seat." The man paused. "Malaysha Hampshire has been missing for 6 hours. In order for her parents to file a missing person's report, she has to be missing for at least 24 hours but she is the 4th girl to go missing this week. We think it may be the same person abducting young females."
I didn't know what to do. I stood there shocked.
"Malaysha... missing?" I collapsed into the chair.
"I know it's a lot to take in at the moment but we like to give your our card. We would also like for you to watch your back and be careful. Whoever this person is, may or may not target you next. If anything happens or if you get suspicious about anyone, call us." He handed me his card and they left.
I should've stayed with her. This is all my fault.
Thoughts flew through my head and the one thing they had in common, it was all my fault and I have to find her.
