*Swearing in this chapter*

Squinting at the site, I glanced back at the directions that were sent to my phone confirming that I was in the correct location.

As shown in the file, the sun was beaming on the site that encompassed vast amounts of sand. I grabbed the body of the shovel and the artifact bags for remains that were situated in the back seat of the Jeep Explorer.

Absentmindedly grabbing the small backpack in the passenger seat, I slipped out of the car. I felt the sand sink under my combat boots as I opened my bag and felt for the pair of gloves.

The land seemed to go on endlessly. Looking for  evidence seemed like it would take days if not weeks. I doubted that I would be able to find anything substantial at all.

With that thought, I started digging.

Here goes nothing.

The quick puffs of air I was breathing only added to the utter exhaustion that I was feeling. After digging for two hours, the feeling of defeat was settling in. If I couldn't find any evidence, I might as well kiss the residency goodbye.

I refused to leave this site, without having something, anything. I wanted this residency just like any of the other doctors.

Getting frustrated, I kept digging and digging with fatigue running through my bones. With one final shove, the shovel hit against a object. I used my hand to move the sand out of the way and I felt my hand brush against a hard object.

I pulled the object out with ease. At a quick glance it would resemble a human skull if not for the mix of animalistic features. Furrowing my eyebrows, I placed the skull in an artifact bag before digging my hand back into the sand where I made my first discovery. Feeling a set of smaller bones I pulled them out.

After twenty minutes of searching the sand, I could not find anymore evidence. Huffing in exhaustion, I heaved my small bag on my back and carried the remains along with my other belongings back to my jeep.
