I had lived maybe just about the closest thing to normal you've ever heard of, unless your normal doesn't involve being beaten to a pulp almost every night, being lied to by your family, and being accused of things you didn't do. My relatives, parents, and sisters all didn't care about the way I felt or how they treated me. Hell, I'm surprised Child Services didn't pick me up out of a ditch to ask who had done all this shit to me.
Anyway, moving on from my family, I've always felt close to the stars for some reason. Maybe that's why I call myself "Starboy". Ever since I was a kid, retreating to the lawn to stare up at the night sky was my only safe place... if I could sneak out without my family knowing, of course.
I wasn't always the best in school, or the best person to be around, so I would go outside whenever I could, regardless of the time. I could release all my stress, and the sky would respond to my stress with a feeling of safety and secrecy. Of course, by secrecy, I mean it would hold my secrets. I don't think the sky would have anything to hide from me.
Hestedgeville has been my home for as long as I can remember. We never moved, and I'm pretty sure I was born here. I mean, who hasn't lost a little bit of their memories from childhood. I wish I could lose more, but that's just me.
Anyway, to be a bit more precise, my town had very tight security despite its size, lots of buildings-most being abandoned-, and plenty of people. You'd think that I would have made a few friends back when I was still there. But nope, I escaped while I still could. It was a good thing I did too, because they were putting up a new electric fence just after I left. I doubt it had anything to do with me leaving, either.
I should probably give a brief explanation on how I ran away.
I remember sneaking out of bed at about 1 in the morning. I was staring at my clock, waiting for the right time to make my getaway. I crept out of bed, making sure to put my covers back in their place, as well as hiding pillows under them just in case. I grabbed a small bag and practically slithered down the stairs, trying to be as quiet as possible. I snuck to the fridge and grabbed as much food and waterbottles as I could carry. As soon as I shut the door, I heard something upstairs. I knew I had to act fast. I tiptoed over to the backdoor, being careful to open it without it creaking. As soon as I got outside, I ran until I reached the last house before the old security fence took over property. I waited for the guards to turn and poof! Suddenly, I was a dragon! No, I'm just kidding. That would be cool though. I crouched patiently until the guards left to change positions, and then I made my move. I slid the bag under the fence, and then I slid under myself. Thank God we didn't have sirens. As soon as I got under the fence, I ran into the forest to hide from the guards. After awhile, I went deeper into the forest, never to see Hestedgeville again. And that's how I made my getaway.
