I did what I was told to do to and stayed to watch Leo in training. He glanced at me a few times as the training began, but once it was fully underway- it was as if i wasn't even there.
But i didn't mind. He was happy. And just seeing the grin plastered across his features, caused from doing something he loved, was enough to make my heart melt in adoration.
When the session finished and he had changed out of his gear, Leo walked towards me- surrounded by a group of his team mates, his best friends. A few of them gave me incredulous looks as i planted a soft kiss on their friend's forehead, but the rest just whistled approvingly and left the CEJG with a wave in my direction.
"This must be like a dream come true for you," Leo laughed as I stared after the squad. I smiled and looked at him, cocking my head.
"What makes you think that?" I asked sweetly.
"Your FC Barcelona notepad," he replied, grinning. I felt my cheeks flush in embarrassment and I narrowed my eyes at the Argentinian boy. He nudged me playfully with his shoulder and kissed me quickly on the lips. I widened my eyes at him and raised an eyebrow.
"What was that for?" I laughed. He shrugged and ran a hand through his hair.
"I can't help it. Your constant blushing is adorable," he commented. "Now are we going to go for some coffee or what?"
Pedro had left his car for us and hitched a ride with another of his friends. Leo reached down to open the passenger side door for me- in true gentleman style- with a grand gesture for me to sit. I laughed and slipped in, clipping in my seatbelt and watching him move around the car the put his backpack in the boot.
It was then that it dawned on me that I was sitting in the car of a Barcelona player and was going out (albeit for coffee) with THE Lionel Andres Messi.
"That grin will split your face if you're not careful, sweetheart," Leo said as he claimed his place at the driver's side. "What's gotten you so happy all of a sudden? Not that it's a bad thing."
Despite the gearstick and everything else that insisted on trying to impale me as I reached over, I hugged Leo as tightly as I dared considering the circumstances.
I wasn't expecting his arms to snake around my waist and hold me against him.
But who doesn't like surprises?
"As much as I'd like to stay like this, the gearstick is probably going to bury itself in me if I don't get up," I said regretfully. Leo laughed and gently pushed me off of him.
Or at least I thought that was what he was doing.
He held my waist as I hovered over him- suck halfway between returning to my own seat and staying. It was an uncomfortable position to be in, but he was staring at me in such a way that made me forget about it.
His brown eyes bore into mine- almost as if he were trying to look beyond my exterior. Had it been anyone else looking at me in that way, I would have been slightly unnerved. But now I was more curious than anything.
All of sudden I became aware of the decreasing space between us and I cleared my throat, snapping Leo out of whatever reverie he had lost himself in. I wanted more than anything for him to kiss me properly, not on the cheek or the forehead or just a quick peck on the lips- he was going to kiss me just there, right?- but he'd promised me coffee, and I wasn't about to let that deal slide. I was thirsty and I was hungry for a cake. He was not going to distract me.
As if on cue, my stomach gave a low growl, causing us both to laugh. Leo sat up in his seat as I sat back in my own. "Sorry, coffee first," he said, twisting the keys in the ignition and putting his foot down. I smiled at him and closed my eyes, leaning my head against my hand to rest. I have no idea where the tiredness came fom, just that it hit me like a wave and I was asleep before I could stop myself.
"Hey sleepy head, wake up."
"No... Five more minutees," I moaned.
"Do you want something to eat or what?"
I opened my eyes to see Leo crouched at the passenger side of the car and was almost blinded by the sunlight pouring in though the open door. Judging from the heat flooding in, it was roughly midday. Leo grinned at me stupidly and I goaned, swatting his head as I sat up.
"I think you need a coffee now more than ever," he joked. I unfolded myself from the car and stetched, making a noise that sounded like a cross between a moan and a squeal- emitting a laugh from the boy before me.
I scowled at him and walked off to the shop, leaving Leo to lock the car. I smiled as a bell went off, signalling a customer's entry, and the cashier came running through from the kitchen.
A smile lit up her tanned features and she brushed an unruly strand of her curly hair out of her face. She studied my face for a moment, leaning her hip against the counter, and sighed heavily.
"Hola Catalina," my sister said.
