Like a thief I checked around the perimeter of Ed's home. The walls weren't that high to deter me from climbing over it. Besides, I have done it many times. Practice makes perfect, I thought as I climbed over the wall of his home. I jumped inside into the big garden outside the main house, right infront of the dogs in his house. The dogs gave me an uninterested look and went on their way. I guess I sneaked in way too often for them to bark at my presence. Quickly I ran over to the oak tree beside Ed's room on the first floor. Very carefully, so as to not be detected by the gardener working closeby, I climbed the tree. The window towards the balcony was opened as always and I jumped onto the balcony with a huge sigh of relief for escaping detection.

With an accomplished grin I walked into Ed's room and froze. My grin cracked as I saw Ed's mum looking at me in shock. Ed closed his eyes in that way that said he was internally cringing over me being discovered. He didn't look good and he was in bed.

"Ah..Mrs. Larson." I said perkily and she scowled at me. There was really no point in buttering her up when she hated me. But I guess a boy's got to try.

"Elliot..why are you sneaking into Ed's room like a thief?" She asked me with the same scowl.

I gulped and glanced at Ed. Ed wasn't going to help me, I saw.

"Well..I wanted to surprise Ed." I said and laughed uneasily.

"Oh you did surprise someone other than Ed too." She said in an annoyed voice.

"Now that you have finished the surprise, you can leave. Edward isn't well and you will only disturb him if you stay." She told me a bit sharply.

I sighed as I looked at Ed. This wasn't going as planned at all. But then an idea struck.

"I brought Ed's school work." I told her and she frowned.

"Give me some time to explain it all to Ed and then I will leave." I told her. She looked very reluctant but finally nodded before asking me to not stay long.

"And Elliot..use the door to go out." She told me sternly before she left the room. I groaned out loudly at that as I sat on Ed's bed.

"I didn't want to create any commotion when mum was around. But you should leave." Ed told me when we were alone. I looked at him but ignored what he said.

"I came to watch today's world cup match with you." I told him as I went over nonchalantly and turned on his TV. I bet he was watching those matches. As I thought, he had a recording of the last match. He hadn't watched it yet.

"Hey!" Ed exclaimed as I dropped down on his beanie bag and started the match. I took out the chips packets and popcorn I brought with me and decided to get comfortable.

"What are you doing?" Ed demanded but I ignored him as I watched the match.

"Am I disturbing you Ed?" I asked him sweetly and he scowled at me.

Fifteen minutes into the match, we saw a situation where the forward managed to escape several defenders and yet somehow at the last minute a defender managed to kick out the ball for a corner. I heard Ed exclaim to that. Tense seconds later, the corner was taken and for a few more seconds, it got tossed around in the goal area before one guy did the most amazing spinning hit on the ball and landed a goal. Ed screamed in excitement at that, standing up on his bed. I glanced at him and he calmed down after a while.

"Isn't that the type of shot you usually do?" I asked him and he didn't answer.

"That could have been you in a future world cup match." I mumbled and he scowled.
