¯\_(ツ)_/¯
"Okay, Mom. I love you too," I pulled away from my mother's puckered lips. She gave me a dirty look after, but I continued to the door of our new home, pulling on my white Converse.
"Have a good first day, baby! Remember, I love you!" She shouted playfully, but still genuinely. "Oh!" She jumped, "Don't forget this." She handed me a small, crumpled up paper bag.
I pecked her on the cheek, "Thank you." I was really grateful, especially since I had a delicious egg salad sandwich in my bag. I impatiently stood by the door, tapping my foot on the wood rhythmically. "Zach, hurry up! You're gonna make me late!" Zach was my older brother, by ten mere months. Which means, while Zach was an ugly little baby, my parents were busy making me - a goddess. I'm kidding, jeez. But they still made me while he was just an infant, something I'll always hold over him. Another thing is that I drive him to school, in my car. Zach is very meticulous about his whip, so he doesn't like to dirty it or waste gas on it for school. That's apparently my job. I don't really mind because I have to drive myself anyways, plus he gets the title of - cue drum roll - my b*tch! I was snapped away roughly from my thoughts when I heard the thump of Zach's size eleven feet jogging down the stairs.
He threw his hands up in mock surrender, and I returned with narrowed eyes. "Get in the car before you're no longer my bit -- " My mom cleared her throat, stopping me from cussing out my older but stupider brother.
Whispering loudly on purpose, Zach turned to my mom and covered his mouth, "She's in a bad mood."

"Your total is nine forty-two at the first window, thank you." A hollow voice spoke through the speaker at Starbucks. I pulled up to the window, but as I bent down to grab money out of my center console, I saw the time. The digital clock read 7:53 and the high school started at 8 o'clock.
Apparently my brother had the same idea. "F*ck," he said. I hastily grabbed the two scalding hot drinks from the cute guy at the window with a quick thank you. Hurrying to exit the drive through but still take a sip of my drink, the burning hot coffee dropped onto my white crop top, leaving me with a stained blouse and burns on my midriff.
I angrily punched the steering wheel, and I accidentally honked the car in front of me. The middle aged woman before me had sent a glare through her rear view mirror.
"7:58," Zach chimed, annoying me.
"Okay Zachary, I get it. Shut up now, thank you."

The woman at the desk impatiently inquired, "So..." She eyed the two of us, "Why are you late?"
"I didn't know how to get here from my new house," I said nervously. Zach has the right idea, hiding hus drink behind our backs.
"Hm," she stated, "Since its your first day, I'll let you go." She held out a hand with four sheets of white paper, "Here are maps and your schedules." Her cold tone went extremely soft as we walked away, "Bye now!"
My brother and I looked at each other in unison, then immediately burst into giggles.

"Great," I muttered to myself dismally. It's the first day of the school year and we have track tryouts. Is it even track season? I walked towards the intimidating track, sighing heavily. First period is a mile run, beautiful.
One of the beefy female coaches hollered, "Line up at the white streak!"
After a mass of students shuffled around to a position, a loud whistle sounded, causing me to take off jogging. I jogged the long, straight runs and sprinted the corners. After what felt like forever, another whistle was blown.
