Plane crash. The pilot. Bomb. Maliah. Death. The smell of death filled my nostrils. It was Wednesday, July 18th when it all happened.

Plane crash. I was heading to the Caribbean Islands with my love, Maliah. I would have purposed to her there. Her mother would have come, but she got ill and stayed in Texas. We should've stayed with her.

On the plane, everything seemed normal. The plane looked like any other. The pilot was older, maybe mid 40s. Maliah was sitting right next to me. Then the gunshots rang out.

"What the-" I started.

"Everyone, hands on your heads! Now!" Maliah went white, then passed out. I made sure she was breathing before I put my hands on my head. The gun barrel against my head was cold. Almost as cold as this mans heart.

"Sir, may I ask y-your name?" I choked out. It didn't really matter what I said anymore.

"Whats it to ya'? My buddy's in the cockpit with the pilot anyways." No. This isn't happening. It cant. No!

Then all I see is pure darkness. My ears start to ring. Did he shoot? Is this death? Am I dead? No. I cant be. A bomb must have went off.

"Maliah!" I scream into the dark. I have to find her. I have to save her. The ringing in my ears starts to intensify, and I can barley think. The smell of the ocean floods my nose. Crisp. Clean. Salty. But there is a dark undertone, I cant place it. I open my eyes to see bodies everywhere. Asleep or dead, I cant really tell.

"Maliah?! If you can hear me, say something!" Desperately, I check the shore.

"Justin, over here (cough, cough, gurgle)" She sounds hurt.

"Maliah, are you okay?!" I see her. I run as fast as I can to her. Im close enough to see that her once white shirt is now covered in red. I know she wont make it.

"Just a little scratch, Ill be fine, i promise." She was pale due to blood loss. She couldn't move from the pool of blood she was laying in, no matter how hard she tried. She kept mumbling 'sorry'.

"Honey, shhh, shhh. It'll all be alright. Its okay." She was now in my arms, and she will stay here until she goes. She looks up at the sun. Her eyes are the perfect shade of green. I wipe the sand and tears from her face. "I love you, Maliah. Its okay to go, okay? I promise you that." My eyes start to pool with tears. I cant cry now. Not in front of her, not like this.

"I-I love you Justin. I never wanted to go like this, but with you here it doesn't seem so bad. Tell my mother that I-I-" Her eyes go still. Shes gone. My one and only love is gone. Gone forever.

"Come back. Please. Maliah. No. No! No..." My whole body is trembling with grief. I slowly ease her onto the sand. I pick a wild flower, vivid purple. Her favorite color. I place the flower in her hair, then close her eyes slowly, not wanting Maliah to leave. I place the engagement ring on her finger, kiss her forehead, and leave.
