Namjin

Walking through the snow, I clung to my black puffy jacket, stuffing my gloved hands in my pockets. I looked down to see my converse covered in flakes of ice; I kept walking wanting to take just a few more pictures or this beautiful snowing day.

The soft singing of a bird caught my attention, looking up it was a small brown feathered bird, standing on a branch on a small tree.

I quickly, but quietly picked up my camera and turned it on, focusing on the tiny creature.

Okay snap the picture in three...
Two...

Suddenly a loud barking erupted the silence, making me snap the picture; but then I seen the bird fly away.

'Great another polaroid that was wasted.' I thought.

The loud barking continued as a big golden retriever came running to me. "Hey Minji." I said leaning down to pet her soft fur.

A man with a heavy coat came towards me, recognizing it was my neighbor and very best friend, Kim Namjoon. But let's just say I have a major crush on him.

"Hey Seokjin, sorry about that, I let her off her leash, but I didn't think anyone was here in the park." He said in a soft but rough voice.

"Haha o-oh no it's fine, d-don't worry about it Namjoon." I felt my cheeks turn pink. Why do I always stutter? Just talk like a normal human being!

"So what brings you out here?" He asked, looking around as he rubbed his hands together for warmth.

"Oh just taking some pictures." I replied.

"You know you're really good at that stuff, honestly if I try to take one I'll probably break the camera." He chuckled, his cheeks giving off a pink share as his dimples showed.

"Thank you.." my voice barely above a whisper seeing his smile made my heart skip a beat, cliche I know but it's true.

Here it comes, the awkward silence. What do I say now?

"Well it's getting pretty cold out here, me and minji here are gonna go back home. You should get inside too soon hyung, I don't want you to get cold." Namjoon said breaking the silence. He then grabbed the hook on the leash and attached it to minji's pink collar.

"Oh u-um..yeah I should, thanks-"

Suddenly, minji barked and ran towards me (again) this time running around me, entangling me with the leash.

"Shit no!- Minji, stop girl!" Namjoon yelped, running and bending down to get the yellow dog. Me on the other hand couldn't stop laughing.

"Seokjin a little help please!" He complained, I laughed more at his silly attempts. I stepped around, turned, stepped back, tried reaching for minji, but nothing.

Out of no where the dog sat still tail waving and swishing around, while me and my best friend were wrapped and tangled in her leash.
Smushed together, I tried moving and stepping out but I felt hands on both my shoulders holding me still.

"Namjoon...? What a-are you doing?"

"Just stay still, I got it." The younger moved the leash with his foot, as we both stepped out from the leash making a circle around us.

But he didn't let go if my shoulders, holding me firmly, but had a soft grip so he wouldn't hurt me. "Um, I know this isn't a good time to say this ....but u-umm."

"Just say it you dummy." I giggled at his stuttering, seeing how cute it was.

"I like you Seokjin, and I have for a while now. More than friends, I just can't help but look at you and smile everyday when you step outside, or walk to your car or-"

"So you're stalking me?" I question.

"No absolutely not!" His face turned red.

"Haha, I'm just joking. And u-uh I have to confess as well-" I took a deep breath in, "-that I liked you for a while now too..." I looked down, the air thick between us.

His fingers slowly caressed my cheek, then he lifted up my chin. "So...Kim Seokjin, will you go out with me?"

"Of course."

And that's why I have to thank Minji, the golden retriever, or otherwise who knew how long it would have taken for me to confess to my best friend.
