Just the fact
That we were in love
No matter how much time passes
I'll remember

eunsuen stood still.

flocks of people passed her by, some irritated seeing her standing in the way. shoulders collided as people scampered past yet she was standing, bewildered.

the scent still hadn't left her. the aura of someone's presence she was so familiar with, but she couldn't recall who it was.

and she wanted to, she really wanted to look back and see who it was. search through the crowd in the subway station and find that tall man she's been crossing paths with.

since this was the third time in a row this week, colliding with someone in the busy station only for a brief moment.

but she didn't, she didn't look back.

instead she slowly picked up her other ear bud that was dangling halfway in the air. music filled her ears when she put it in her ear and with that rhythm she didn't hesitate starting to walk with the crowd.

it must be only, a spur of the moment.

a mistake. she wouldn't know that person.

yet her heart wrenched for the third time this week. hurting, stinging and the pain starting to spread through her chest and she really wondered why.

and the scent never fully left her. not even the strong aroma of the latte from taehyung's coffee shop made her step out of that moment that had happened an hour ago.

"why are you so distracted?" taehyung sighed loosening his black apron, then rubbing a towel on his forehead to make the sweat to go away. "i made you coffee, just the way you like so-?"

"yeah." eunsuen mumbled. her eyes focused on the still liquid of her drink but her mind roaming elsewhere.

"aw, come on!" taehyung finally bursted out. "is the coffee really that bad or was it because of the interview?"

that's when she stepped out of it. looking up perplexed she immediately replied. "of course no! the coffee tastes great it's just-"

"the interview?"

"yeah." the words left her mouth before she knew it. and she didn't correct herself.

"tell me about it." taehyung put a hand on the table. putting his chin on his palm he looked at eunsuen patiently.

"you know.. it's just..." she shrugged laughing by herself. it was all she could do since taehyung knew everything. there wasn't anything new to explain.

"well, eunsuen, i think you're great to pursue whatever you want. even if it's like your twenty seventh-"

"twenty fifth," she quickly retorted.

"yeah. twenty fifth interview." taehyung wasn't late to acknowledge. "i'm sure you're gonna succeed one day so just don't give up yet. if i was a principal of some high school i'd immediately make you the literature teacher; not even an interview needed for that matter."

"yeah, you've said that for the hundredth time tae." eunsuen sipped on the coffee, the warm and sweet liquid making her smile almost instantly.

"but i have to accept my fate you know. who would take someone who literally changed their course after two years? and it isn't helping as my parents keep telling me that i should've kept on studying engineering." she continued and he listened.
