Alex's P.O.V.
I swept and mopped and washed and cleaned. The house had to be spotless or else my mom would kill me. She had the brilliant idea of having a "small gathering". Meaning, I had to socialize. I have never been good at talking to people.
There was a knock at the door. I ran to go open it thinking it was my mom coming back with the food. To my surprise, the guests got here early. Great..
My uncle, Omar, and his wife, Delia, walked in. After them, my cousin, Andres, and..
I didn't recognize this boy. I'm sure I would've remembered meeting him. He was so dreamy. Flippy hair, sparkling eyes, perfect lips, and what's that I see? A tattoo? Oh dear Lord, he's the boy of my dreams. Simply gorgeous.
"What's up? This is my friend Joshua. Hope you don't mind that he's here." said Andy, interrupting my thoughts.
"Nah, it's all good." I said. I hope it sounded as cool to Joshua as it did to me in my head.
They all sat on the couches and I sat at the table. I would peek at Joshua and look away when he saw me looking at him. He was just.. wow..
My mom finally arrived. She brought carne asada. My favorite.
She invited everyone to go outside so they could chat and cook. Meanwhile, I'll daydream about my "wonder-boy".
After dinner, I took a seat at the table my mom had outside. Andy and Josh were playing basketball and I was left alone peacefully. I got out my phone to text my friend. I had to tell her about Joshua.
Suddenly, someone took a seat next to me. It was Joshua. My heart raced and my stomach was filled with an entire zoo. Was he actually going to talk to me?
"So, do you like to dance?"
Dance? Oh no, I can't..
"Uh, well, I can only really dance bachata. I'm not very good though."
He chuckled. "Nice." He smiled at me.
I smiled back. "Can I get you a soda or something?"
"I'll take a coke." He said.
I got up and went inside to get him a soda. Wow. He talked to me!
I went back outside. He wasn't at our seats anymore. I turned around. He was at my dad's DJ equipment. I heard a song playing through the speakers. Then it hit me. He played a bachata song for us to dance to. He was just too dreamy.
He took the coke from my hand and put it on the table. "Let's dance.", he said.
He took my left hand and placed it on his shoulder and he held my right hand.
I couldn't keep my eyes off him while we danced. Yet, I tried so hard not to mess up.
We danced to about 3 songs. Then he took me back to our seats.
"How did you learn how to dance?" I asked. I could tell he was really good.
"I taught myself. I watched everyone else dance and well, I wanted to join in."
"You're a great dancer."
He smiled at me. "You're not too bad yourself."
"Not really. Do you think you could teach me a few things before my school dance?" I giggled. I hope he could tell I was joking.
"Just take me with you." He joked back.
"Of course. Any girl would be lucky to take you to a dance." I blushed. Can't believe I said it.
He laughed. "And why's that?"
"W-Well, you're an awesome dancer, a really cool dude, and you're uh, very good looking." Somebody please stitch my mouth shut!
"Well I think any guy would be lucky to take you out to a dance or something"
I'm sure my face was a bright pink with all that he said. I giggled and said, "And why's that?"
"Because you're awesome, funny, and you're pretty."
Oh my gosh! He just called me pretty!
"Thanks" I smiled at him.
He smiled back at me.
Joshua's P.O.V.
Alex is so beautiful. I think she likes me. I noticed the way she kept looking at me all day. Hopefully she didn't see me looking at her, too.
"Yo, you into my cousin?"
"Your cousin's cute but I've got a girlfriend, remember?"
"Just don't play my cousin like you did with that other chick, okay?"
"Calm down, bro. I wouldn't mess with a bro's family."
Damn. I wasn't thinking about Misty while I was flirting with Alex. Well, maybe Andy won't find out we were flirting.
I ran passed Alex and messed up her hair. She turned around and gave me an evil grin. She ran towards me and messed up my hair even more.
We laughed.
Then she asked, "So do you have a phone?"
"Yeah. Why?"
She handed my her cell phone. "Can I get your number?" I dialed it and gave her phone back.
"Thanks. I'll text you." She smiled that beautiful smile of hers.
It was time to leave. I walked up to her and hugged her. I could tell she didn't want to let go. Deep inside, I knew I didn't want to either...
