"I can stay the night babe," Lacey smiled up at Sage.
Sage tried to smile back at her, only a small smile showed on her lip. She was thinking of something to say to Lacey, "Yay."
Lacey took Sage's hand, Sage looked down at their hands; she rubbed the soft skin of her girlfriend’s skin. They walked out to Sage's car. Sage took her eyes off their hands then over at Lacey, who was smiling from ear to ear like she just got something she wanted for a long time. Hopefully tonight won't break us up. I need her with me, she needs me.
Lacey squeezed Sage’s hand before she left go and went to the passenger side of the car, Sage hit the unlock button on her car key, Lacey opened the door as Sage did. They both slid into the front seats of the car at the same time, putting their bags in the back seat. Sage inhaled, smelling the blackberry vanilla lotion Lacey put on before meeting Sage at the exit door of the school. It took all she had to not lean over and kiss her, to forget to tell her about herself, to run away with Lacey.
She shook her head of the thoughts for the second time today as she puts the keys in the ignition then putting the car in reverse. They pulled out of the parking spot, going straight for about a second then making a right out on to the street, out of the school lot. Sage reached for Lacey's hand, trying as hard as she could to hold back the energy in her hand. Their fingers stayed intertwined on the way to Lacey’s house, it took no time to get to her house.
"I'll be right back," Lacey said as she got out of the car, reaching into the back seat to get her backpack.
"Take your time," Sage watched Lacey walk up to the door then disappear behind it when it closed.
Sage turned off the engine, even if Lacey said she'd be right back, Sage knew better. Her dad would stop her and talk to her for a while then she'd have to do something real quick. Blah blah blah. Lacey's family didn't like the fact that she had a girlfriend. Lacey came out to her parents a couple of days after they started dating. Lacey’s mom was happy and loving about it, her dad was another story and still is. Whatever, he’ll never like me. Sage ran her tongue over her teeth feeling for the roughness of the human teeth that replaced the teeth from the morning. As much as she loved her sharp teeth, it wasn’t time for them to show around Lacey, not quite yet. Nope not there, we're good. Lacey came out of the front door while Sage was checking her teeth with her tongue, she could see that Lacey was smiling at Sage through the window of the car.
"Let's go babe," Lacey kissed Sage's cheek softly, shutting her door behind her as she did. Lacey didn’t throw her bag in the back of the car; she placed it between her feet, knowing her dad was watching them.
Lacey looked at Sage for a second buckling herself in the seat as if it would protect her from everything. Sage smiled when she turned around in her seat, putting her arm on Lacey's seat and watched the world behind the car to make sure nothing was in their way.
"Why do you want me to spend the night? You usually just ask on our anniversary," Lacey asked wondering why Sage asked.
Sage stole a glance from the road to Lacey, sighing a little in the process. "Let's just wait till we get there."
Lacey gave Sage a weird yet worried look in response, not knowing what to do.
Sage bit her lip, staring at the road. She wanted to get to her house, she wanted to tell her, she wanted her to be okay with it. Sage thought that Lacey would be okay because of what she can do. However, Lacey doesn't actually know what she is yet.
