This is the story of a little 7 year old boy by the name of Jack Thomas. His mother died when he was 3 years old, and lives with his father in a small little house big enough for  the both of them, and his fathers girlfriend. The house was located right by the Fire House, and every time the Fire House whistle would sound off Jack would scurry off to the side window, and watch the Fire Trucks pull out of the station, and flee to the scene. His eyes would fill with excitement watching the lights on the top of the trucks flash in a  circular motion, and listen to the sirens warning all the cars passing by that they need to get through. Ever since Jack watched his first call, he's known he wants to be a Fire Fighter. His father, and his girlfriend have always put him down about it.Always saying being a fire fighter was a stupid dream he needed to get out of his head right then and there. But that never stopped him. Every time he heard the fire whistle he would rush right over to the same window and watch as the trucks left. Jack had made a promise to himself that he would never stop trying to be a fire fighter, and that he was going to do whatever it took.

"Father? Can i talk to you for a second?" Jack asked his father

"What is it?" his father asked

"Well as you know tomorrow's my birthday, and im gonna be 14." Jack explained

"Jaack where is this going?" his father asked in a modist tone

" Well i was talking to the Fire cheif a few weeks ago, and he said when i turn 14 i can apply myself for the Company. And as you know i've wanted this for a very long time, since i was pretty much 7 years old. an..." Jack was cut off by his father

"Jack. Jessica, and myself have told you before you are not to join that company. its bad for your health, and stuff." his father explained

" Yes, i know you both have told me that, but i really want this, an..." Jack was cut off again

"Jack i dont want to hear another word about joining that company, were done with this conversation! Period. End of discution!" His father screamed.

Jack ran off to his room, on the verge of crying he heard the fire whistle. But this time instead of rushing to the window, he rushed to the fire house. He spent most of his time there that night, meeting all the members, and explaining why he wasnt going to be joining. They all loved Jack, but not his father. As the night progressed the cheif had invited him to come to the fire house every tuesday night for what they call "work night" to help clean trucks, and test equipment. It got later that evening and Everyone had gone home, But while Jack wasnt looking one of the members had slipped an application form into his jacket pocket. Jack snuck home, and went straight to his room. He threw his coat onto the floor and leaped onto the bed, to see a white peice of paper on the floor, he got of the bed, and picked up the peice of paper, unfolded it, and saw that it was an application form to the company. He heard foot steps coming up the stairs, and quickly hid the peice of paper in his desk. His dad came into his room told him good night, and left. Jack pulled the peice of paper back out of the desk, and read every single word on the form. and questioned how it got to him. He put it back in his desk, and went to sleep.

"Jack, Breakfast's ready" Jessica called

"Be down in a minute" Jack replied

He had been staring at the application form for hours, for he could not put it down.

"Jack your breakfast is gonna get cold!" Jessica yelled

"I'm coming!" Jack scramed back

Jack quickly hid the application form back in his desk, and went dowstairs to eat his breakfast and get ready for the big day ahead of him. After Jack ate his breakfast, he plowed the snow and cleared out the drive way. Later that night Jack was handed 2 boxes.

"Dad, Jessica. What are these?"

"Your gifts of coarse." Jessica explained

Jack wasn't used to getting gifts. Especially like these. A button up shirt in one box, and a pair of black dress pants in the other.

"Thank you. Thank you very much!" Jack said with joy

"Your welcome honey!" Jessica said with excitement thinking that after 7 years Jack would have finally warmed up towards her. He hadn't! He has always told himself that he woulld love no other women as a mother, except his true birth mother. Jack took the gifts into his room and agressively threw them onto the floor! he thought

" How dare she?! How dare she come into my life, and act as a mother?!

The rage that was traveling through Jack was unexplanitory. Jack picked up the shirt and pants. Just as he was about to throw them out the window he heard the fire whistle, and rushed to the side window to watched with excitement
