Let Go

The child is asleep

Her skin is ice cold

The girl lies in a heap

Her mother keeps hold.

The child is asleep

Not a sound is made

Her mother lets out a weep

Her hope will not fade.

The child is asleep

Her eyes stay closed

Her sister takes a peep

Her mother is not composed.

The child is asleep

Her breathing can't be heard

The machine goes bleep-bleep

Her mother's vision is blurred.

The child is asleep

Though it was just yesterday

She came into this world.

Her mother will weep

Her mood and mind grey

She will stay in this world.

She will have to let go.
