The room was completely black. So dark Keith couldn't see his own hand in front of his face.
He was ice cold since he barely had barely any clothes on. Only dark blue boxers.

He didn't know how long he'd been there or even what time it was. He hadn't known these things since Shiro kidnapped him after his arm had corrupted him.

Keith felt like he'd been there forever. He'd finally lost hope to fight back. Today Keith decided to give up. He declared he wouldn't try to escape anymore. That just got him beat.
He wouldn't pull on the chains and shackles anymore, there was no point and all it did was make his wrists and ankles raw.

Keith just sat where Shiro left him. He couldn't do anything else. He laid down on the cold stone floor about to get some sleep when the door swung open. It slammed against the wall and Keith jumped and scooted into a corner. The light coming into the room blinded him for a few seconds.

Once his vision returned he made sure to avoid eye contact so Shiro wouldn't think he wanted to challenge him.

"Please be happy today." Keith thought. When Shiro was happy he didn't hurt him as bad.

He stayed quiet until Shiro spoke. That was one of Shiro's rules. The taller Paladin walked to the middle of the room and set Keith's bowl of food on the ground. As he stood he stared down at Keith. A cold expression on his face. His completely yellow and glowing eyes glared him down.
"No yelling or insults this time?" He asked Keith. "Did you lose your voice again?"

"N-no. I just- I just want to be a... good boy." Keith muttered staring down at his food.

"Really?" Shiro asked unconvinced.

"Yes."

"Good. If you had kept on your old path I'm not sure you would have made it much longer." Shiro said crouching down. "Come here." He ordered. Keith crawled to his food bowl and sat on his knees as he waited for Shiro to tell him he could eat.
"Go on. You can eat."

He bent down and ate his food like a dog, Shiro didn't like him using his hands. He ate the same stuff every day, some sort of porridge. It was good but eating it everyday made it taste bland.

"So, Keith. What inspired this change of heart?" Shiro asked entwining his fingers and laying his chin on them. Keith tried to swallow as quickly as he could knowing Shiro didn't like to be kept waiting.

"I-I don't know." He answered bending back down to eat more.

"Keith. Don't insult my intelligence. You don't submit for no reason. You know I hate it when you lie." Shiro exclaimed angrily. Shiro had a hard time controlling his anger outbursts. Hints the bruises and why he yells certain words.

"I-I'm Sorry." Keith apologized. "I guess it's because it-it got me nowhere. I can't escape from you, Shiro... And I don't want to anymore." He added quickly.

"Good, I'm glad. I don't want to hurt you, Kieth. It's just... the only way you learn." Shiro explained.

Keith finished eating and licked the bowl clean.

"Heh. You were really hungry, huh?" Shiro said.

Keith's response was a nod as Shiro picked up the bowl. When Shiro got the bowl he caught a whiff of his captive.

"Ugh, Quiznak! You smell like crap."
Keith sniffed holding back tears. How one simple word can send an army of a thousand hurts through his body. 'Quiznack' the word Allura taught them, the word Corran usually shied away from. The word his friend Pidge word utter when frustrated about electronic difficulties. The word Hunk would say when he was nervous or afraid. The word his brother, his friend, his... something else, Lance would always use incorrectly. But, no one would ever correct him on.
"How could Shiro use that word like it was nothing!?" Keith thought angrily. Then Keith realized, no matter how hard he tried to remember the faces to the name of the other paladins he couldn't. He couldn't remember Hunk's voice or face nor Allura's or Coran not Pidge... not even Lance. He had some of the memories and he had names but he couldn't see the faces. The only face and voice he could remember was Shiro, this Shiro.
