tyler.
I sit against the wall, my legs folded against my chest. I stare at all the people spilling drinks on each other and slurring their words. I don't know why I agreed to come here... This is god awful. I look at the couch and see two people making out, and- Jesus, they're practically screwing. I don't want this. I should've just stayed home today. This isn't my type of night, I'd rather be at home, like, reading. Anything except this.
As I'm observing, someone who is clearly either drunk or stoned, possibly both, stumbles and trips over my feet. I squeak and stare at the raven-haired man, now laughing on the floor with alcohol all over the front of his tank top and on the floor that he's lying on. He manages to prop himself up with one arm and looks at me.
"Well, aren't you just adorable," he slurs out. The corners of my mouth flash downwards in disgust.
"Brendon's the name, but you can call me daddy," he says, smirking. He stares at me expectantly. I don't reply.
"So you're not a talker, eh... I bet you're a screamer in be-"
I stand quickly and walk past the mini-orgy that's going on and find a new space to wait for my misery to end in. Just as I find a scene more my style, (Quiet, nobody there to harass me), the music stops and a voice booms through the speaker.
"Everybody gathers round, it's time for tonight's closing event."
I slowly walk into the multitude of people. Someone is walking by, dividing everybody into two groups.
"Nathan here is putting everyone into groups of two. Now, everybody on this left side, pull out your car keys pronto."
The other half across from me digs into their pockets and grabs their keys.
"Nathan will be coming around with sticky pads and a pen so you will need to write your name, as legible as possible," he says, this to which earns a few chuckles. "And stick it to your key. You will then put your key into the bowl that Nathan will also be coming by with."
All of them do as they're told, and we wait for further instruction. I spot that Brendon guy on the left side.
"Now, the bowl will alternate to the right side, and all will choose a random key. No peeking."
My heart skips as the bowl comes to me. I close my eyes and put my hand in, stirring around and grabbing some random person's car key.
I look down at the name.
Josh.
My hands get sweaty as I grip the key. Any of these guys could be Josh. Any. I look over every face. Maybe it's the dirty blonde with the beard? I shiver. Not going home with him. I look at my side and see a tall brunette with honey colored eyes... He looks kinda owlish. Maybe rather withdrawn. Inquisitive. I bet we'd get along.
"Now that everyone has gotten a key, everyone on the left side needs to pull out their phones. Go on, take them out. Now, go to your notes and type your name. Hold your phone in front of you so that-"
"My phone is dead."
The voice comes from Brendon.
The man with the microphone smiles, clearly already annoyed. "In this case, whoever gets your name will see that you are in fact the only one who didn't charge their phone before going to a party and will be directed straight to you." The man raises his eyebrows, claps his hands together and continues. "Anyways, now that we have everyone set if those on the right would kindly look through and find who is on your key."
Josh... Okay. I walk past the men, some smirking or eyeing me as I look at their phone.
Martin,
Christopher,
Steven,
Michael,
Daniel,
Donald,
Buddy,
Jonathan,
Josh,
Benjamin,
...
Wait, Josh-
I take a few steps back to the phone that read Josh. My eyes trail up to meet a pair of happy eyes and fluffy bright colorful hair.
"Hi," Josh says, beaming. I give him a small smile as I hand over his car key. We stare at each other for a quick moment before we come to reality and see that everyone has cleared out, leaving us alone in the room.
"Maybe we should..." Josh trails, looking toward the door. I just nod. Josh goes ahead of me to open the door for me. I proceed to the curb. "My car is the silver s2000," Josh says, pointing towards the car across the street. I step off the curb and make my way towards the car.
Here I am, seventeen-year-old Tyler Joseph, about to go home with... Josh. I don't even know his last name, much less how old he is, I mean, if he's any older than I am, this would probably be considered illegal. I'm a student who rides to parties on his bicycle and hangs out with the wrong faction. I truly believe-
My thoughts are disrupted by shrill honking and a hand being wrapped around my arm, tugging me back. My eyes widen in shock as I watch the car drive past with an angry man with a big forehead glaring at me-
That Brendon guy, with the boy with the honey eyes in the passenger seat.
