Light streamed in from the window, and warmth radiated from his entire being. Your head lay in the crook of his neck, his strong arms wrapped protectively around you, chests pressed together legs in a tangle with the soft sheets.
It wasn't often that you got the chance to lie peacefully with your husband, either you were away, or he was away. Even on weekends, it broke your heart not to be next to him as often as most married couples. So you took this lovely opportunity to savor it.
It didn't last long though, small but fast footsteps rushed down the hallway, pausing just before the door. You shut your eyes, and breathed in the smell of Clint's T-shirt. The door creaked open, you tried not to hold your breath.
WHAP! A weight crashed down on yours and his stomachs. Your 4 year old daughter pounced on the opportunity to wake up Mommy AND Daddy at the same time. She bounced up and down vying for your attention.
You rolled over and lifted her up into the air above you, tossed her up and caught her twice, but on the third time Clint snatched her out of the air only to tickle her sensitive skin.
She laughed and screamed in delight. You sat up and watched your two best sources of happiness laugh and play. "Daddy stop," she begged. Clint kissed her little head, and whispered in hear. She nodded, and crawled over to you.
She opened her little arms, and you scooped her up into a hug, "G'Morning Mommy," she said. Giving you a kiss on the cheek. You smiled and looked at Clint. His eyes warm and loving. Your daughter pulled out of your arms and turned to her Daddy.
"Baby, go get the big mixing bowl. Let's make waffles," he said.
"Yay!" she cried out and jumped down off the bed, racing into the kitchen. Clint looked at you, and leaned in for a kiss.
"Hi," you whispered
"Hi,"
You pulled away, stepping off the bed stretching your back, you moved to the window, pulling back the white curtains letting more light pour into the room, his arms were around your waist before you knew what was happening.
You took a deep breath and leaned back,
BANG!
All of your weight fell back against Clint as the glass broke in front of you and the bullet pierced your bodice. Both of you tumbled to the ground. You found yourself unable to breathe. Clint moved to lean over you,
"(Y/N)!"
"Agh... Clint...Agh," grunts of pain escaped your lips.
"Mommy!" your daughter screamed.
"(D/N)! Get down," Clint shouted as she ran into the room, she hit the ground and crawled on her belly to her Daddy just as three more bullets rang into the room just barely missing her.
"(Y/N), baby, come on baby stay with me," he pleaded. But you were losing it.
Your hand reached up to touch his cheek, "Clint," your voice cracked.
"(Y/N), No, you can't..." he sobbed. "No, (Y/N)! (Y/N)!" But you were gone.
"Mommy!" (d/n) cried out tears pouring from her eyes. Tears ran down Clint's face as he held is unresponsive wife.
