(Y/N) had agreed to stay for a while and it was now the end of her first week on the Sunny with the Straw-Hats and the captain of the Heart Pirates.

She still didn't speak as much and was reluctant to people touching her.

But she didn't mind being close to Law and he wasn't that annoyed with it since she kept quiet most of the time and something about her had piqued his interest.

At dinner, she walked in while holding onto a book and watched as everyone turned their attention to her, looking a bit confused. She put it down, opened a page and pointed to three devil fruits.

'The Chi chi fruit – Blood fruit.

It lets the carrier manipulate their own and other people's blood and organs. They can tell if someone is lying by reading their vitals and also speed up the healing process. But that's only for flesh wounds – not broken bones.'

They kept reading.

'The Waru Waru fruit – Wall Wall fruit.
It lets the carrier create walls to protect themselves from attacks.
It is often confused with the Bari Bari no mi - but the Waru Waru is more powerful and can shield multiple people. But the downside of this is that the summoner will start taking the damage.'

She began to nervously scratch at her hands as they read on.

'The Sensu Shūjuku fruit  Senses Mastery fruit.
The carrier can enhance all the five senses, sight, sound, smell, taste and touch, as well as manipulating other people's senses. There have been cases where people have been able to manipulate them to an extent where they can access memories.'

She looked up at them and they looked stunned at first until Luffy exclaimed how cool her powers we're. And thus began the neverending pleas to join his crew.

Later that night (Y/N) sat on the deck while watching the ocean with a sorrowful look.

"Can't sleep?" a voice behind her asked, causing her to swing her arm its way before a hand grabbed her wrist.

Law looked at her with a raised brow and she recoiled before her arm went limp in his hand.

"S-Sorry... Reflexes." she muttered while looking away.

"Good thing that mine are better than yours then." he smirked before letting go of her wrist and leaned against the railing next to her.

She just shrugged before looking back out at the ocean.

"Why do you always look at the ocean with that look (Y/N)-ya?" he asked and she looked at him quizzically before an involuntary giggle escaped her lips.

"What?" he grimaced.

"The way you said my name. It's cute." she smiled.

"You didn't answer my question."

She sighed before folding her arms over the railing and resting her chin on them. "I miss it. I never asked to become a devil fruit user and honestly–" she trailed off while touching the railing absentmindedly. "–it wasn't worth losing the ocean over it." she muttered.

"What's done is done. Make the best of it instead of complaining."

She simply nodded with a small smile before they both watched the calm waves in silence.

A month into their journey, (Y/N) had become more talkative and everyone had started to really like her.
