"I just don't understand Josiah, why can't I ever go with you?" Hearing the desperation in his little sisters voice made twenty-two year old Josiah Alcazar furrow his eyebrows then run his hand down his smooth dark waves in frustration. Josiah knew she hated when he left her at the house for days alone, but in the end all that he is doing was for them.
"Johana I'll be home soon man ok? You know I don't involve you in the shit I do. Just be good for me. I don't want no shit to deal with when I get back, Understood?" He replied while hearing shuffling over the phone and the low rumble of his engine as he awaited her response."Ok JJ, just hurry home please."
"Fasho. Get some sleep chink, love you." Josiah didn't wait to hear her response as he hung up. Pulling off all he could think about was how his little sister was spoiled as fuck. It was all his doing though, so he couldn't complain much. Sixteen years old and couldn't sleep without her hearing his voice before she went to bed. Shit, he was just glad she wasn't out shaking her ass on instagram like the rest of these fast ass girls in her age group, his sister was definitely more sheltered.
Johana has been staying with Josiah for about three months now. Her biological father kicked her out once he realized the financial struggle of raising a teenage girl. With them being half siblings Josiah and Judith did not share the same father. Josiah though Johana's father was a straight bitch. What type of man kicks out their only child in their time of need?
Once Josiah found out of his sisters situation he moved her in with him at his condo, and hasn't looked back since. He's the only man she needs in her life anyway.Getting his mind off the situation with his sister, Josiah focused back on the road. Cruising down the streets of Houston at 3:23am he was finally almost back home. After a hit Josiah always made it a must to stay away from where him and his sister laid their heads just for precautionary reasons. Pulling up to his modern condo and firing off the ignition to his Tesla model 3, he couldn't help but to sit in the car for awhile and dwell on life. Palming the keys in his hand while his tongue found its way poking through his cheek he couldn't help but chuckle. Twenty two years old and a hit-man.
Pulling the visor down he peered at himself through the mirror, his own eyes cutting through what little soul he believed he had left, disgusted at what he saw. One, two, three, four, .... He stopped counting the scars on his face, their appearance didn't bother him, he knew he was handsome regardless. Josiah was disgusted by the story behind them.
Deciding to cut his pity party short, he opened the door to his car rising his 6'4 frame out. Going to the trunk he popped it open and pulled out groceries and a few gifts for Johana. Closing the trunk with his elbow. His tall muscular stature swaggered to his front door. Before he could even attempt to open it with everything he was carrying, it swung open revealing his baby sister.Twisting her pretty little face up in the best fake mug she could; Johana or chink as her brother called her, stared up at her big brother before bursting out laughing and engulfing him in a hug. It had been almost a week since she had last seen him and Johana wasn't afraid to admit she missed him dearly.
"C'mon chink bruh I missed you too but let me at least put all the groceries down"
Doing as her brother said she followed him to the kitchen right on his heels until all the groceries were successfully put down. Turning around Josiah quickly lifted his sister off the ground in a bear hug; hearing her continuous giggles lifted his mood greatly. Setting her down he looked at her while starting to put the groceries up.
"What you been doing while I was gone?"
"You know just inviting all my hundreds of friends over while we turn up drinking all your henny"
Not even able to take her serious Josiah's loud laugh filled the house, it was funny because Johana had almost no friends. She was very quiet and reserved.
Her face contorted into a real stank face this time because of how hard he laughed. "Alright JJ, it wasn't even that funny damn."
Snapping his neck in her direction Josiah gave her a blank stare. "Oh we cussin' at our brothers now? Cut that shit out Jo foreal, that cussin' shit ain't cute you a lady." Without even realizing it his country accent from living in Texas all his life deepened. Staring at her for a few more seconds Josiah finally turned around and continued to put up the groceries while muttering to himself. "Tuh, this girl must lost her damn mind. Talking bout' some damn.""Ok ok ok JJ I'm sorry, dang haven't even been in the house ten minutes and you already getting on my case."
"I got to stay on yo case bruh, that mouth too smart" Josiah replies while putting the last of the food up. "It's late anyway bruh what you doing up?"
It was summer time in Houston so Johana didn't have school to attend in the morning or anything, Josiah just wasn't use to seeing her up at times like this."You told me you were coming home today I just wanted to wait on you. It's been almost a week J, I was worried."
The sincerity and softness in her voice made Josiah's heart tug. He knew his sister loved him very much and he loved her more. Walking over to her he ruffled her curly hair and embraced her in a side hug.
"What I tell you about that?" Josiah said while looking down at her. "You don't have to worry about me I'm gone always make it home to your annoying ass." He finished while cracking a smirk trying to lighten the mood. Johana chuckled while shaking her head and hopping off the stool."Whatever old man, but now that your home I can stop worrying about your baked bean smellin' self and go to sleep"
"Girl I know you ain't talking looking like Wanda off holiday heart. You need to go do something to that head. Probably got all our white neighbors looking at you like 'whew Chile, the ghetto' "
Wiping the tears out of her eyes Johana settled down her laughing fit then gave him the middle finger while heading to her room.
"Ha ha ha night old man"
"Night chink, don't forget to cover them toes in bed, monsters are attracted to critters."
Now alone, Josiah headed to his room to get ready for bed. In a couple of hours he had to go to his legal job. To keep shit from looking suspicious on his tax records; Josiah was co-owner of his barber shop, The Fade Shop. Taking off his chain first then his Jesus piece he placed them in his jewelry holder. Turning on his speaker then connecting his phone; Future's, Cuddle my wrist played throughout his room. He bobbed his head to the beat and sung along. "Cu cu cu cuddle my wrist, cuddle my wrist, cuddle my bitch." Stepping out of his Nike grey shorts and white muscle tee; Josiah went into the bathroom connected to his bedroom and stepped into the shower.
Feeling the hot water pelt his muscles he let his body relax, bowed his head, and said a prayer for not only himself; but for all the other lost souls just like him."Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil..... Amen."
