Chapter 1 ~ Back to School

Collette's POV*

I woke up at the harsh sound of my alarm clock at 6:00 A.M. I was a bit confused by the time for just a few seconds until I realized that today was the kid's first day of school. I quickly got up and out of bed for I only had 30 minutes until the kids woke up. I liked to be downstairs making breakfast when they wake up. I also think that if I get a late start then everybody will get a late start and be late for school. They attend Pleasant Sky School and the bell rings at 7:10 so I like to get them there at about 7:00.

(Author's Note: I do not know if Pleasant Sky School is a real school in Idaho I just made it up.)

Shay's POV**

"Dada!" screams Daxton as he jumps on my stomach. He is almost two and turning out to be about just as rambunctious as Brock was at this age.

"Good morning, buddy! How are you?" I say as I give him a huge kiss on the forehead. He just laughs in response as I tickle and wrestle him. I look at the clock and it is 6:20.
"Dax, did you climb out of your crib again?"

"Nooooo," he said but he smiled so I knew he had. There was no one to get him out anyways. We were thinking of getting him a big boy bed if he kept this up. Then I heard the shower turn off so I knew that Collette was done so I took Daxton to his room to get him dressed for the day. He was wearing overalls with a green shirt underneath.

Collette's POV**

When I walked out of my bedroom I saw Shay let Daxton run to me. I picked him up and brought him down for breakfast. "I love you, little boy." I told Dax as I set him in his highchair with a kiss. He squealed and played with his cars that I put on his tray. I decided to make pancakes for breakfast because I always make something special for the first day of school. I then hear Emmi and Brock running downstairs. They share a room but we're thinking of moving Emmi to an empty room in the basement soon by Gavin and Avia.

"Good morning, Mom!" they said at almost the same time.

"Good morning, my little angels!" I say as I collect them into a group hug and a kiss.

"What's for breakfast?" asks Emmi as she stares at the pan on the stove.

"I'm cooking pancakes for your first day of school! Why don't you guys go get your drinks and then they'll be ready," I said as I flip them once more. They both agreed and went to the fridge.

Brock asks, "What is today?" Lately he has been asking what today's date is every morning. I'm assuming it is just a phase he will grow out of but I think it is cute.

"Today is August 20, 2015," I tell him while looking at the calendar. Wow, time sure does fly by.

"Good morning, everybody!" shouts Avia as she runs upstairs.

"Well I can see somebody is excited for the 5th grade!" I tell her as I give her her pancakes and a kiss, "Is Gavin awake yet?"

"I don't think so," Avia says as she sits next to Emmi, "His lights were off when I came upstairs."

"Okay, you guys eat your breakfast and I'm going to go get your brother," I walk downstairs as I hear them all laughing about something. "Gavin! Are you awake?" I say as I rustle him awake.

"I'm awake now!" he says as he gets up and rubs his eyes.

"Okay I'm going to go back upstairs come up when your dressed," I give him a kiss and walk out. As I start walking up the stairs I hear Shay talking to the kids.

Shay's POV**

I walked out of the room and decided that it would be a good idea to vlog the kids as I'm coming downstairs. "Hey guys, today is a very special day! It's the first day of school!" I scream as I run downstairs to the kitchen. "Look at my children eating their pancakes! Let's go down the line! Avia what grade are you going into?"

"5th!"

"A kiss for you then. Emmi what grade are you going into?"

"2nd!"

"A kiss for you as well! Daxton! Oh wait, sorry buddy your not old enough for school yet. You still get a kiss though! Brock what grade are you going into?"

"Kindergarden!"

"Looks like you get a kiss, too! We seem to be missing somebody. Gavin! Get your face up here so I can kiss it!" Everybody laughs in response. "Oh! There's my beautiful wife I'm going to make out with later!" I love teasing her.

"Shay Carl!" Collette laughs back.

"Yes, Dad?" Gavin says as he opens the door smiling.

"What grade are you going into?"

"6th!"

"A kiss for you then too!" I turn off the camera and slip it in my pocket. I love to see the whole family together in one room. It makes my heart warm and happy.

When everybody was about to leave with Collette I said, "You know what! I think I'm going to join you guys on the journey to school." They were all happy about this decision and we got in the car and drove to school. I turned on the camera and started to vlog. "Hey guys! Everybody is actually joining us this morning on the way to school. But now four of them are leaving us because we are here at school. Everybody get out! Be good! Make good choices! Talk and be nice to everyone!" I turned of the camera and Collette pulled away.

"Now it's just me, you, and Daxton, honey. Does it feel weird?"

Collette's POV**

"My name!" squeals Daxton when he hears Shay say his name.

"You're right, buddy! Daxton is your name!" Shay tells him, smiling."He's so cute! Do you think there's one more?"

"Shay, you know how much I would love to have six kids! Three boys and three girls would be perfect! Do you think we'd have enough time and energy for that though?"

"You're basically superwoman! What can't you do? Seriously though, I think that we'd have plenty of time and energy for it!" he says as he leans over to kiss me. "Especially because the older kids would help so much and you know that Avia and Emmi would dawdle over it all day, especially if it was a girl!"

Shay was bringing up so many great points and it was almost impossible for me to say no. "We'll talk about it when Daxton goes down for his nap." Little did Shay know that I was definitely planning on this 6th child!

Later that same afternoon, after I put Daxton to sleep I went to our bedroom with no idea that Shay was waiting for me.

"You said you wanted to talk?"

"Yes, I did."

"Okay, honey. Tell me." He said with a mischievous smile on his face.

"All I would like to say is.... Shay Carl! How on earth are we going to take care of six kids!"
