the flickering of the dimmed lights in the bedroom echoed throughout, causing jackson's  eyes to slip open. a slight scent of burnt toast lingers through the males bedroom, slipping into his nostrils, causing him to scrunch his face into a sour tone. his thin fingers slipped onto the surface of the thick quilted cover, as he tossed the material to the side, his body spun to the side, allowing his feet to dangle off the bed. his eyes flick over to the nightstand located next to his bed, the clock had read a time that was way too early for jackson to comprehend. a groan tumbled from beneath his throat, rising up and escaping his mouth. his lips perched into a frown as he allowed his body to fall backwards onto his bed, his arms dangling off the other end.

his eyelids grew heavy as they slowly started to shut. his mouth hanging open the slightest bit as his body curled into a ball, for his typical comfortable sleeping position. from what seemed of hours later, jackson's eyes fluttered open a second time, this time feeling a tad more refreshed and ready for a new day. but something wasn't right, he didn't understand, why was it still dark outside? he kept thinking how he slept for so long it turned nighttime a second time, but no, that wasn't it. he jumped out of bed with minimal force, sprinting to his window. his eyes widened at the sudden sight, as he slowly backed up shaking his head in anguish. no, this can't be happening, this isn't real. he muttered. his body did a raw 180 as he now faced the door, he sprinted to it, swinging it open to reveal the corridor leading to the stairs. his body moved faster than the air flow to his lungs, he raced downstairs, in yet pure darkness.

his hand fumbled with the doorknob of the front door, as he heard the voices of his parents in the kitchen, sounding worried as ever. this doesn't make any sense, how could it have just vanished? his mother questioned, he had no time to think, he then swung the front door open revealing a darkened street, with neighbours out on their porches looking around at the sky. her heard mumbles of the citizens, and saw others whipping out their phones to record the sight before them.

the sun had vanished.
