ALLY'S P.O.V
My eyes followed the abstract coloured walls and a few dance posters that hung on them. Cathy sat on the bed cross-legged, her eyes scanning the room just like mine. Aaron appeared with his laptop, a light smile on his face. We sat in his room because library was a far easier place for people to find us. The only problem being Aaron had his room on the same floor as Stefan and it was too much of a risk. Though Aaron had already checked the floor and his attuned senses would catch if Stefan was around, I wasn't so sure about it.
"I am sorry to keep you waiting. Jiselle wasn't giving me the laptop." he said mentioning his emrald haired roommate. She was a cool girl as far as I knew her and I was sure Aaron had a slight crush on her. She had gone for her lecture. Being a vampire their lectures started when ours ended, in the evening. Aaron was skipping the first one and I did not know what was so urgent. he simply had texted telling me to get Cathy along and meet up at his room.
"Its ok. I am sorry we knocked but nobody opened and Ally here was being impatient so I had to use a spell." Cathy said indicating towards the door.
"Damn I need to get the room charmed and by the way I did smell you near the hostel. I figured you might be here." Aaron replied smoothly as he swiftly switched on the laptop sitting on the bed with us on either sides.
"So what's going on?" I questioned. Boys wouldn't notice that we were not in our rooms as the concert was to be day after tomorrow. They were rehearsing in full force. Zayn and Harry would probably get back by 11.00. I don't know how Aaron had managed to get the principal's permission as the auditorium was pretty far. She had already secured the area since Monday and our curfew started at 10.00 whereas we weren't supposed to go out in the forest without her or any staff's permission. She was going on something about the auburn moon and bad phase which I did not understand. it had been ages since I saw the moon. it was just Diamora and Sun that formed the two important heavenly bodies here.
"Are you listening?" Cathy nudged my elbow snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Yes I am sorry, what?"
"Few concerning things I have noticed. First being Niall's aloofness. I tried to keep a track on him and found out he has been meeting some girl. I couldn't figure out who the girl was. I guess she was a shield because whenever I tried to get a little closer, there was a buzz in my brain."
"A buzz?" Cathy asked.
"As in a headache. my mind immediately went blank."
"But she would know that you were following if she had such a strong mind force." I said.
"Yes she might have known but she never said. infact I have never heard her speaking. I simply know that Niall meets the girl in the cape and they seem to stare at eachother and then they leave." He said his eyebrows furrowing.
"okhh maybe our Nialler likes someone and he is shy?" I said. it didn't make sense though.
"Well he would have confided in someone. the boys?" Aaron said.
Good point.
"Hmm what's next?" Cathy said massaging her eyebrows. She looked pretty frustrated.
"Your sketch." he pulled out a paper from his pocket. I stared at the raven with its wings open. Cathy had already told me about it and as Stefan's school records were pretty normal yet clipped we had to find some other way.
"There are a few pictures that I found. take a look at them and tell me if you recognize one of those." He flipped through the images and Cathy scanned them one by one.
"Okay wait.Go back." She said and we were looking at a shining raven with red ruby eyes. Yes I had seen it before but never concentrated on it. it was actually a very beautifully molded pendant.
"Okay. it would take some time to find out about it. I will have to crack the site's firewall and I am not a techmorph." He said saving the image in a hidden folder.
"Anything else?" I asked. I had a feeling this wasn't all.
"Yes...a fifth degree is missing. A fire elemental. The principal hasn't let it out so as to not scare the students but nothing can be hidden from us vampires." He smirked.
"And what are we to do about it? there's a lot on our plate already. I don't know why it had to be me? or why am I not giving up?" Cathy said putting her head in her hands.
"She is right. The person missing might be a runaway or that might be some other matter all together. Princi told us to keep out of the woods maybe the person didn't heed the warning." I said my mind working up.
"He was a fifth degee Alicia. A full fledged fire elemental. They don't just disappear." He stated.
"What was he doing at the institute if he was already a fifth degree?" Cathy asked.
"He was the member of the major league, assisting for the training of fire games. Besides fifth degrees do attend the institute if their power is uncontrolled." Aaron said. The major league was like Olympics but at a institutional level where different games were held for the students from all around the universe.
"What are you not telling us?" I asked. he was still contemplating if he should tell us or not. I could see it on his face.
"Well. the fire elemental was Sahwin, the prince of Derantes." I stared at him wide eyed.
"Sorry I don't get it..?" Cathy asked looking at us.
"Derantes. The southern fire nation. So you mean to say...the third key is gone..?" I asked leaning forwards.
"That's the possibility." He nodded. Cathy groaned falling back into the sheets.
"Argghh this is frustrating!" Cathy muttered running her hand through her hair.
"Chill...it will be alright." I said though I doubted it and she saw right through my expression.
"What are we doing right now?" I asked trying to figure out the next move.
"Well we concentrate on the Raven." Aaron said tapping the paper. Cathy's phone beeped and she rolled her eyes.
"Carlyle is searching for us. He has something awesome to show." She said in a bored monotone to which I laughed.
"Okay then lets go. Lets see what awesome he has for us." I said standing up.
"You go ahead I have to go to the lecture in a while so I'll go freshen up." Aaron said smiling.
I closed the knob behind me to see a purple mist rise up. I blinked and it was gone. Did I just hallucinate? I looked at Catherine who was still staring at the spot where the mist had been. I shook her to break out of her trance. So I wasn't hallucinating.
"You saw that didn't you?"
"Yes" she replied her tone low.
"What could it have been?" I murmered thinking to myself.
"He knows.." she trailed off. my eyes snapped to look at her. She was still staring at the spot with a frown.
"What? who?" I asked frustrated. I don't need more mysteries tonight. Her brown eyes bored in mine. An expression of annoyance on her face.
"Stefan..." was all she said.
