"C'mon Lacey just give him a chance."
That was Kayla Simmons. The most annoying person in the world, but yet my best friend in the entire world and the BEST volleyball player on our little team, in Redwick ND. Home of the Mustangs.
"I told you no already."I said walking away as fast as I could in my dang flip flops. I was practically late for my next class, History, and I could not afford another tardy over some idiot guy.
"We'll continue this conversation after practice!" Kayla said pretty much yelling it across the room as she flung her back pack down on her desk.
"Doubt it" I mouthed across the room.
"Oooo, what are you talkin about?" Tiffany, our best setter, asked. She was the snoopiest girl in high school. Her court name was literally 'The Snoup'. Everyone loved her, but man was she annoying.
I was about to say something, but then realized the entire classroom was silent, and there was a short, stern looking teacher, Mrs. Neno staring cold devils through our eyes onto our hearts.
"It looks like Miss Lacey has volunteered to go first to give a speech on the American Civil War.
The Civil War. What? Yesterday we learned about taxes in China or something.
Great! I groaned so loud my stomach hurt. I silently cussed out Tiffany for distracting me.
"Ur sure"I mumbled. Cool and calmly I walked to the front of the room. Looking at Kayla I saw her frantically trying to say something to me in sign language. Ugh, why hadn't I paid more attention to boring sign language classes. Noted.
"Well um the Civil war was a war between the North and the South." Crap the last time we learned about the Civil War was in 4th grade! "Um in the end the North won." I hope that part was true.
I looked at Neno to say i was done, but there again was those cold devil eyes.
i had no idea what I was doing, so I did what any teenage girl would do that moment... I grabbed my stomach, and ran out of the room like I was about to barf.
Yep, works every time.
I stood in the bath room for what felt like hours. Whenever someone walked in, I bent over the toilet, held back my long blond hair, and made the most awful noises that I possibly could. I found that the louder I was, the quicker the people would leave. I kinda felt bad, because this was the only bathroom in our school, besides the locker room, but no one would dare to go in there while Mr. S was giving class.
Hearing the door open, I bent over and hurled again. Why couldn't they just stay out of the bathroom for ten minutes while I pretended to lose my gutts in the toilet.
"Cut it out Lacey."
Laughing, I opened the door to the stall. "Come to save me?" I asked a crossed armed Kayla standing in the doorway.
"I gotta admit," she said nodding, "that was pretty impressive."
"It's one of my hidden talants."
She gave it a thought and then joined me sitting on the sink. "To bad Mrs. Neno didn't think it was as cool as the rest of us."
"What do you mean?" I said standing up because my butt was wet from the sink.
"Let's just say your needed in the office... Pronto."
"Oh. Crap."
"It could of been worse?" Kayla said as I walked out the door.
