Toni's POV

I woke up from sleeping on the floor since I'm traveling to America today. Im so exited

I'm just so ready to start a new life than staying in Nigeria. I mean I love this place it's just that I want a better life maybe America is better than here. I get to the bathroom take a shower straighten my hair and put on Jean shorts and at t-shirt I put the stuff I need in my hand bag and take everything downstairs I eat breakfast but then my mom calls me.

Mom: Toni

Mom: your not gonna greet me good morning

Mom: it's okay I know your exited but I wanna give you this *holds out necklace* it was your great grandmothers it kept her from the bad that went on in the world I'm giving it to you because you'll be living by yourself and need to stay safe we've already got you an apartment in America your uncle is gonna pick you up you have a car too.

Toni: A CAR

Mom: yes it took me forever to convince your father since there aren't so many taxis out in that area than here. We will be visiting you every 2 months for a 1 week. I don't want to come there and you are pregnant or sneaking around with a stupid American boy okay

Toni: yes mommy I won't

Mom: alright here wear it with you a lot or just put it in your purse or pocket but whatever you do don't let it get out of your reach ok

Toni: yes mommy

Mom: alright Ifunaya (I love you) sweetheart
