Isabella's POV:
I had just arrived at the underground fighting ring. The smell of blood, sweat, and alcohol was definitely too much to miss. Eye of the tiger is playing over the speakers as a fight continues in the ring.
Entering my street name in for the next fight, all I could do was wait.
However, before I even had a chance to enter the ring for my first fight of the evening, several men walked up to where I was sitting at a barstool. Some looked around my age and the other two or three looked around twenty one.
One stood out in particular though. The others were a step behind as they surrounded him. I noticed as well that he had two full sleeves of tattoos, snake bite piercings, and a scar on his left eyebrow that was just starting to fade.
He has piercing blue eyes that are watching me with a bit of a skeptical gaze. Then to top it off, he has a messy look to his hair and may I add that I hate how it's only guys that seem to be able to pull off the just got out of bed look.
Just as he was about to speak, the speakers cut the music and announced my fighting name. "Next up....shadow!"
A smirk appeared on the main guys face and all of their eyes were on me as I pushed through them to get to the ring.
The crowd got ten times louder, if possible, when I entered the ring.
My fighting song of choice began to play, champion by Carrie Underwood.
Alright, it's fight or die. I've got this.
But I think I may have spoke too soon. "Her opponent? I give you the one, the only. I give you THE KING!"
Again all the crazy men began to scream at an almost deafening volume.
But there across from me stood the man from before and his gang surrounded his side of the arena cheering him on.
It's a good thing I've had my hood turned up and my hair tucked back this entire night or I'd be worried about Lillian's safety. Perhaps I'll take a different route home just to be safe.
Just as Soon as I toon back into the fight, the bell rings signaling it has begun.
There are two types of fighters, those who make the first move or those who wait the other out and play defense.
I much preferred to wait and analyze my opponent. But it seems me and the king don't have that in common.
He throws a right hook and I block the blow before it could make contact with my jaw. But what I didn't see was his left knee as it lifted and connected with my abdomen at full force.
Even though I was winded, I remained standing so I wouldn't give him as much of an advantage.
So I also faked a right hook, then set up for a round house kick. Maybe I'm not the best at patience as I thought I was and I don't know why but this guy has a way of easily getting under my skin.
As he fell to the ground from the force of my kick, I got on top of him as I delivered blow after blow to his face before I heard the sickening crack of his nose.
My angry side was satisfied but I never enjoy hearing that sound.
So I got off of him as he groaned and the count down began. He stayed down and the announcer announced shadow as the winner of the fight just as kings buddies pulled him out of the ring and threw his arms over their shoulders.
The adrenaline high slowly dies down and I come back to my senses and look over towards him.
He wasn't unconscious. But he wasn't exactly 100% there after the fight either.
I ran home because I didn't have the gas money to take my bike back and forth to the arena this week. It was cold enough because we were half way through the month of November, cold enough to see my breath in front of me.
I finally reached the door of our apartment and unlocked the door just to see a smiling lily with her cat, jinx in her arms.
The hairs on his back stood up as he hissed at me and I took my hood off and stuck my tongue out at him and a playful pout appeared on Lillian's face.
"You know he would actually like you if you were nice to him."I couldn't help but to smile and hug her.
" I missed you today."
"I missed you too."
Good news is winning that fight covered the rest of this weeks rent. However, I just have this gut feeling that this fight isn't over.
Thank you to those who took a chance and read this book. It is unedited and not the best ssoooo ya 😂. It's short because it's just the beginning. There will be more details revealed next chapter.
However one book that is fantastic is a book written by my friend aspiringriter called "Elizabeth Napier: Jokes, Riddles, and Bats"
