The Spins

Chapter 1

Alex was never the type to be thrown into strange or surreal events. She was just an average girl in Los Angeles trying to live her life. She would've never guessed how strange her life was about to become.

It was another sunny Friday as she was walking down the streets of Hollywood Blvd, on her way to work. She was a manager of the Forever 21 located on Hollywood Blvd, so she was busy most of the time.

She didn't mind working there, it gave her a chance to interact with thousands of different people and also get discounts on cute clothes. However the reason she was living in LA was to be a musician; it was her passion, her reason for getting up in the morning. She wanted to fill the world with joy by sharing her, for now, undiscovered talent. She was just having a bit of struggle at the moment to make a career out of it.

She intended on working at Forever 21 for studio money and to support herself as long as she needed until she could finally break out in the music industry. It was only a matter of time before things started turning around for her.

She was on her lunch break and was just enjoying the sights and sounds of the street, she never got tired of the craziness going around. She stopped and sat on a bench to rest her tired feet and noticed a cute family taking pictures with a Spiderman and Captain Jack Sparrow.

The little boy was holding a web shooter and his little sister was holding a treasure chest (both props that the "actors" used to help draw in people for pictures) and they both had beaming smiles across their faces. It always made Alex love the city even more when she saw others enjoy it as much as she did. It also made her realize what a crazy world LA is, so easy to get lost in. Nevertheless she loved every aspect of the city, good or bad, it made LA what it was and she would never get tired of it.

She didn't realize but the whole time she was sitting on the bench, there was a man eyeing her, watching her every movement and checking out her profile. He wasn't looking at her as if he wanted to pounce but more of to see if she had any imperfections or flaws, it was obvious he was looking for something specific. She started to get her things together and walk away from the bench, her break was ending shortly. The man thought he better act now as it would be almost impossible to find her again.

As she started heading down the street she heard shouting from behind her, "Miss! Hey miss wait!" but surely he didn't mean her, so she continued.

Moments later she jumped and let out a quick shout from the surprise of a hand grabbing her upper arm pulling her back. She turned towards the man who quickly let go after her reaction.

"What do you want?!" She wanted to get away but thought to herself that he wouldn't harm her in public like this in broad daylight so she didn't run.

"Excuse me maim, I didn't mean to scare you" the man chuckled with a small grin, " My name is Henry Sterling and I'm with MTV!" he announced while taking her hand into a firm shake.

MTV? What would anyone from there want to do with me? Alex thought to herself.

"Well hello Mr. Sterling!"

"Please, call me Henry!"

"Oh well then hello Henry! I'm Alexandra but please, call me Alex."

"Well it's very nice to meet you Alex." He said with a beaming smile. Who knew that employees working behind the camera could be so handsome?

"Anyway, the reason I approached you in such a manner is because I would never forgive myself for letting you walk away without talking to you. You see we're creating a new show for MTV, even though we don't have the full concept of the show yet, I was told to go looking for some good looking people that could participate."

Alex could not even comprehend what was being told to her.

"Wait, you want me to be in a new show for MTV?!" She couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth.

"As a matter of fact, yes I do! Now here, take my card. If you're interested then meet me at California Pizza Kitchen tonight at 8 to hear more details. Hope to see you there!"

He then turned and walked away. It took Alex a few minutes to realize she wasn't dreaming, this was real. Even though Henry was long gone she still called out, "See you there! Can't wait!"

And to think she normally would've taken her break a few hours later...
