Unexpected

A new problem

Melly POV
I don't understand. He wants to get to know me? He already has the perfect family. How is that supposed to work out. This isn't what I came here for.
"Okay, well you could get to know me even if you sign the papers. I know it's  not really your fault that you didn't know me. So no hard feelings but I would like to get back to Cali."
I look at him. And he is watching me like he tries to read my mind. I don't really want to look him in the eyes so I lower my head again. I feel like my walls are crumbling. I came here with a plan.

Jules POV
She can't stand to look me in the eyes. She seems so uncertain and nervous. I wonder what is really going on here. "Do you have a number from your case worker? I think I need some more answers." She looks shocked and scared about that questions. "Why do you need that number? It's all in the papers that you need to know."
"Look. Something is not right here. And either you tell me the whole story or I need find out the truth somewhere else. To me it seems like you are running. CPS has no idea about your whereabouts. Am I right?" She didn't dare to look up but she nodded her head yes.

Melly POV
The raised voice has me scared. He seems angry. I should just grab my bag and leave. "I am sorry that I came here. I will leave your house and you can forget about me. But please don't call CPS." I got up from the chair and went to the living room. I closed my bag pack quickly and I tried to lift up. When two strong arms stop me from that. He was so close to me that I backed away till my legs hit the coffee table. I almost lost my balanced but he reached out to grab my wrist to steady me.

Jules POV
As soon as I grabbed her wrist a Little tighter so she wouldn't fall her eyes kind of glazed over. She froze in her movement and she started to tremble. Her head cast down and making herself as small as possible. I was lost at what to do.
"Are you okay?" Stupid question I know because obviously she wasn't. I tried to guide her to the sofa to sit down. As I touched her shoulder. She started to whisper. "Please ... don't hurt me." All I can think of is what happened to this girl.
"I am not going to hurt you. Just sit down okay. Everything is okay." Just as I told her she went to sit down. Her hands trembled and she took shaky breaths. Tears started to roll down her checks. I feel like I'm the reason for her  behavior. Sam... I need Sam. "I am getting Sam okay. She can help." I am a little scared to leave her in that state. So I kept glancing over my shoulder in case she bolted for the door. But she seemed to out of it for that. Halfway up the stairs I called out for Sam who appeared a moment later in the hallway. "I need you. I don't know what's going on. It's like she is having a panic attack and I triggered it." Sam rushed past me down the stairs. She is a nurse after all and definitely knows what to do. I sit down on the stairs and watch from a safe distance how my wife calms down my new daughter.
