Monday came around, and I was smiling from the moment I woke up. I didn't know how Elliot makes me feel so amazing, but somehow he manages to.
"Don't you look pretty." My mother smiled, as I walked into the kitchen and sat my bag down on the counter.
"Really?" I questioned, and she smiled and nodded.
"Yeah. We barely see you in dresses, so it's a nice change." She smiled, and I grinned as I walked over and grabbed a bowel to put my cereal in.
"Elliot and I are going out to dinner tonight, so I'm going to just go home with him." I spoke, and she nodded.
"Okay, sounds good. Just be home by ten."

When I got to school, Elliot was standing next to my locker with roses, and I smiled at him. He was so proud of himself for getting me flowers, that it made me smile more.
"I hope you like them, because they cost me around $20." He spoke, and I laughed as I took them from him.
"I love them, El. Thanks." I smiled, before leaning in and kissing him softly. He wrapped his arms around my body and hugged me warmly before taking the flowers back so I could unlock my locker.
I tucked my flowers into my locker before packing my books into my bag. He grabbed my hand and we started to walk towards our classroom, when he started to talk.
"Wanna see something?" Elliot asked, and I nodded slowly.
"Sure."
"We don't have to have our parents drive us around anymore." He smiled, as he handed me his driver's license.
"No way!" I exclaimed, as I stopped and grabbed it from him.
"More excited about that than our date?" He asked, and I shook my head.
"No, today is special. I'm just excited that our parents don't have to drive us around anymore. And I'm getting mine in a month." I smiled. Elliot leaned over and kissed me again before taking it back. He looked at me before sighing.
"Now a test."

Elliot and I had most classes together, but he had gym before lunch and I had Italian. When I walked into my classroom, I noticed one of the newer girls was sitting by the window, as tears streamed down her cheeks. I looked down at my books before walking to my desk, where I put my books down before getting up enough courage to walk over to her and ask if she was okay.
"Hey." I breathed, as I sank down on the desk next to her. She ignored me, or maybe she didn't hear me because she was in her own thoughts. I frowned before reaching out and gently touching her arm.
"Hey, are you alright?" I mused, and she quickly jumped from the sudden touch, before looking at me.
"What?" She questioned.
"I was wondering if you were okay." I replied, as I stood and grabbed the box of tissues. I sat them on her desk, before sitting back down.
"I'm fine." She whispered, and I nodded slowly, but didn't move.
"I'm Olivia by the way. I didn't catch your name last class." I spoke, and she bit her lip as she wiped a few tears from her cheeks.
"I'm Cynthia. Uh, I'm okay now. You can go sit back at your desk." She spoke, and I nodded slowly.
I walked back to my desk, before gathering up my items and walking back over to the desk across from her. She looked over at me with wide eyes, before looking out the window.
"I was 7 when I started at this school. I had a hard time too."
"Really?" She asked, and I nodded.
"Uh, yeah. Everyone knows now, but I am adopted. So when people started to find out, they made fun of me. Made up some shitty stories about why I was adopted." I spoke, and she sighed.
"I'm a foster kid." She whispered, and I frowned.
"It's hard isn't it?" I questioned, and she nodded.
"Yeah. I miss having a place where I felt safe." She frowned.
"When you are here, you are safe. If it will help, you could sit with me at lunch." I smiled, and she nodded.
"I'd like that. Thanks." She smiled, before she reached into her bag and pulled out a pack of gum.
"Want one?" She asked, and I nodded.
"I'd love one. Thanks."

After class, Cynthia and I walked into the lunch room together. She and I walked through the line together, and as we payed she was already looking for a table.
"Come on. I already have a table." I smiled, and she looked at me confused.
"You do?" She mused, and I nodded.
We walked together to the table where Elliot was already sitting and eating. I sat my tray down next to him, before sitting down right next to him.
"Elliot, this is Cynthia. She is going to be joining us." I spoke, and Elliot wiped some ketchup from his face, before reaching his hand out to her.
"Nice to meet you. Glad to know my girlfriend has friends that aren't mine." Elliot smirked, and I elbowed him in his side.
I didn't want him to scare her away. I didn't want him to start talking about a bunch of random shit and have her run away and not feel like she fit in, when she could fit in with us.
"It's nice to meet you too." She breathed, as she opened her milk and took a drink from it. Elliot continued to shove more food into his mouth as I opened my salad.
"So, liking this school?" Elliot asked, as he wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close.
"A little more now that I know someone." Cynthia replied, and Elliot nodded.
"We have a lot in common, because Olivia was the first person who I met here at this school." He smiled, as he glanced at me. I blushed a bit under his gaze, but I was happy he was making an effort.

I walked Cynthia to her locker and made sure she knew where her next hour was, before pulling out a small piece of paper I had written my home number, cell number, and address on.
"I know that this might be a bit forward, but if ever need anything, these are the different ways to contact me. Most of the time I'm at home or hanging around here after school because Elliot plays too many sports. But we could hang out sometime, and if you wanted to get away from your foster home for a bit, we could hang out together." I smiled, and Cynthia quickly took the paper before hugging me tightly.
"Thank you so much, Olivia."
