Mavis' Point of View

After a week, all the school works are finally done. We all took the final examination, and luckily, everyone passed.

When the fateful encounter happened..

“I’m sorry for your loss, Ms. Mavis.. Her heart has eventually given up.”

My world crashes down.

She’s gone..

My mother..

Is gone..

The doctor guided me to sit down as my head spinned and my vision blurred. I held my head and started to hyperventilate. “Ms. Mavis, breathe slowly. Nurse! Bring me a pill for headache and a glass of water!” He commanded.

“M-My mom.. She’s gone?” I asked the doctor for confirmation. Hoping he will say ‘no’.. But he just looked at me with sorrowful eyes..

My hope came falling down.

Time flew by so fast and the next thing I knew, I’m in front of her grave.. With Allen by my side.

He keeps on gently lifting me up ‘cause I keep kneeling and almost kissing the grass, crying madly.

And shouting for mom..

But I know she will never hear me now.

The sun was setting when I finally calmed down. Lying on Allen’s arms.. While he is sitting on the cold grass and his back leaned on mom’s tombstone.

“She will never see me grow up and become a woman..” I began, while feeling Allen’s hand caressing my hair. “She will never be in my wedding, see me in a beautiful wedding dress.. And I will never see her cry in joy..” Allen just stayed quiet and listened. “She will never see her grandchildren.. She can never play with them and share laughter..”

A tear dropped from my eye. “I’m so tired of crying.. These tears don’t run out no matter how long and how much I cry.. So, I wanna move on. I want to set myself free from this self-inflicted pain.” I sat properly and looked at Allen straight in the eye. “You’ll be there for me, right? You’ll never let me go? You will never leave me?”

He stared intensely back at me. “I’ll be with you for as long as I’m breathing. I love you with all my life, Em.”
