The war still continued, it never ended. Every day it was always the same groups. Autobots and Decepticons. For most bots it consisted of hiding away behind rubble, fighting back, or retreating. Though for Megatron, retreating was best used if necessary. Which was most of the time.
They had returned to their Decepticon base, which was small at the time but shortly would be complete with the help of some constructicons. Their hideout was located miles outside of the battle area, which unlike the desert setting it was in, the base had been located in a more refreshed area. Trees were scattered everywhere, hiding the Decepticon home. It was being built and attached to a cave so they could easily relocate to another area. Megatron had been in his office with Soundwave, watching footage that the cameras they had installed to keep up with the Autobots. He'd only step into battle if he saw fit.
"Current Report: The Autobots have stopped fighting. We should attack quickly, Lord Megtaron." Soundwave, being a very intelligent ally to Megatron had been spying on them. With the use of his cassettes, mainly being Laserbeak, he kept his leader notified of any changes or schemes that the Autobots would have made. Megatron nodded and smirked, devising a plan. He would use the Seekers for an air attack on them. He shortly 'commed Starscream, who had been flying with his other seekers Skywarp and Thundercracker. Before he could fully give them an order, a familiar bot had appeared on the cams, and this time it was inside their base.
"It has seemed that Optimus has somehow found a way into our base Lord Megatron. Shall I interrupt the scene?" Shockwave had added in. He had stepped into the room a few times as well as leaving to provide some strategy to use against the Autobots, but this time it wasn't needed.
"No, no Shockwave...I have a better plan." Megatron chuckled, "This would be better than an air strike." he thought to himself. "Then what is it that you suggest we do, my Lord?" Shockwave had only stood still, waiting for a reply. Megatron turned his helm to the side to face the other 'con. "Lead the Prime in here, block the entrance so the others cannot join him. I want Optimus alone, and only him!" He barked his command at him. Within minutes the outside perimeter had been blocked to the rest of Optimus's team. Oddly it appeared that though the Autobot leader was by himself.
He entered several rooms, automatic doors closing behind him as he could sense that he was getting closer to finding Megatron. His weapon was not drawn, but was held in his servo as he walked calmly in the hallways, but cautious.
Megatron merely watched the screen as he saw Optimus drawing closer before he was no longer visible.
"I'd like to have a word with you Megatron, but the fighting needs to stop now!" Shockwave and Soundwave changed their readied stance into their battle positions. Megatron shoo'ed them away, not looking at the two but only locked his optics with the Prime. "Leave us, I will not be requesting any back up at this point." The two Decepticons didn't question their leader and simply exited the room.
"Oh Prime, it's always having a word with you. I'm not interested in any speeches of yours. Please tell me you're here for a more specific reason." Megatron said as he slowly inched closer to Optimus. His arms were crossed against his cold metallic chassis, staring down at him. Optimus shook his head. "Megatron, I wanted to have a conversation with you. Nothing is being accomplished here, and you know it. Could...We at least try to compensate for this?"
He thought for a few seconds. Megatron could see that this battle would not lead anywhere but to more deaths. Frankly the old warlord was getting tired of it. Maybe this could be his chance to lay low for bit, and bond with the Prime. He then shakes his helm.
"What a good point you make. Unfortunately, I'll have to decline your little proposition." Megatron diverts his optics, but shoots back at Optimus. "However I have my own suggestion."
Optimus straightens his frame up, he has known Megatron for ages. There was no way this would end good. Normally he would've interrupted the Decepticon, but lets him finish.
"I do agree we both are losing a tremendous amount of soldiers, but you could call off your men and leave us be. Though, I don't expect you to give up that easily. So let me rephrase that, you will admit defeat. Either take my offer, or just continue to waste your precious time on the battlefield." A smirk forms on his face. He knows how Optimus acts, but the sound of defeat coming from the Prime would be lovely.
The two of them are quiet, not a single noise was made after Megatron demanded the other's defeat. Right before Megatron could shout at him for a reply, the Autobot spoke aloud, breaking the silence.
"I will accept. Only if you're willing to meet my side of the offer." He crossed his arms, and turned around. Optimus didn't want to face the other, not in fear but of the fact he wanted to leave Megatron with something to process for a while.
Megatron's smirk fell right off of him and twisted his expression into confusion. Not understanding why Optimus simply submitted, his processor felt heavy on him. The only word that came out of his mouth was "Why?...".
