Chapter 14

It all happened at once at the time. But now that I look back on it, it seems like it all happened in slow motion.

"In third place....... It is Skylar Greene!"

I was crushed, but I smiled anyway.

McKayla quickly pulled me into a hug. "You were amazing! I'm so happy I got to meet you while I was here!"

Caleb hugged me and then I walked off the stage.

McKayla ended up winning. Although I was devastated that I didn't win, I elated for her.

I heard a voice behind me. "You know, third place always makes it the farthest," I turned around and saw Harry Styles standing in front of me. "We got third place and look at us now!"

"Oh my god." I said.

"Zayn gave me your number, if that's okay. I thought about texting you, but I wasn't sure if you would believe that Harry Styles is texting you, so I thought I would come and meet you!"

"Oh my god." I repeated.

He laughed as McKayla met up with me.

"OMGz, no!! You're Harry Styles. Like- THE Harry Styles. Skylar! You weren't kidding! I mean- not that I ever doubted you, but just- wow!" She rambled.

I mouthed 'sorry' to Harry and he smiled back.

When McKayla was done fangirling, Harry led us outside. Well, until security stopped McKayla and told her that Simon wanted to sign her to his label.

I continued to follow Harry outside only to find my family waiting for me.

"Skylar, we are so sorry you didn't win!"

"It's not that big of a deal. I made it this far and that is something to be proud about," I said. "But look. Harry is waiting for me. I have to go!"

I didn't bother looking back at them. I knew they looked disappointed and confused.

When I caught up to Harry he was holding a piece of paper in his hands.

When we arrived at his car, all of the boys were sitting inside. He handed me the paper in his hands before the boys got out of the car.

"Hey, Skylar!" Niall said and hugged me.

I was introduced to Louis and Liam and we all talked until Zayn got a call from their manager.

"Uh- we have to go, boys. It was nice seeing you, Skylar!"

They got in the car and left.

Then I began to walk to my parents.
