Chapter 3. :)
The day is finally over and March Break has begun. You can’t deny how surprised you were when Scarlett told you that everyone was going to Disney Land. Your friends didn’t seem all too enthusiastic about it, but none outright complained. You can only imagine Scarlett had something to do with the decision, though you have no idea why she thinks you’d find Disney Land the most interesting thing on the planet. Yes, it will be a new experience since you’ve never been there before, but you could think of a few places you’d rather go. Still, best not to look a gift horse in the mouth. Scarlett set this up and is even paying for you to go. Seems she really does care about you sometimes. You’ll have to bug her about it when you see her again. You could have during math, but some of your classmates decides to sit around you so she couldn’t be near you. It’s just one of their jealously fueled attempts to keep you and Scarlett away from one another.
After squeezing through the crowds of students you finally reach your locker. You input the code and open it up, grabbing your lunch and stuffing it into your backpack. Once firmly placed inside you zip up the bag. As you stand up you throw your pack around your back and take a quick look around. Oddly enough Catherine and Mac aren’t around like they normally are. Usually you have at least one person to walk out with, but it seems you’re on your own right now.
You close your locker and lock it up, leaving nothing there for the week break you have. You start walking away from your locker, taking one last peek to see if any of your friends are around – perhaps just coming down the hallway or blocked off by the wave of other students here. Unfortunately you don’t see a single person. You pout at your own loneliness but quickly shrug it off. You take out your headphones and snuggle them into your ears, playing your favourite song to counter your solitude.
“Alright, all set,” you say to yourself, heading out.
You end up having to shove your way through almost every other person in your way. Every single one of them is just talking to their friends. You can’t hear them, but you assume it’s plans for March Break or something along those lines. Luckily you already have plans, even if they weren’t exactly your plans or even your idea of how you were going to spend the week. Honestly, you thought a little bit more about that party Mac was talking about. A bad idea? No doubt. A fun time? Probably.
Someone starts walking towards you. It doesn’t look like he knows you’re there, or that he even cares. You’re more or less stuck where you are. There is a grouping of students beside you that isn’t giving you any room to move. But alas, this mysterious man doesn’t move. He bumps into you, forcing your shoulder back and your headphones to disconnect from your I-Pod.
“Hey!” You complain, looking back at him.
He doesn’t look back or even acknowledge your words. He just keeps walking. You sigh, feeling almost cheatedYou look to the left and see Mac walking towards you.
“Oh, hey Mac. Where were you?” You inquire, slowing down a bit for him to catch up.
“Lynn ambushed me, the bitch,” he explains, looking down at the ground and shaking his head.
“Was it an ambush or an ‘ambush’” you ask, gesturing quotation marks over the second.
Mac stares at you for a moment, his head tilted back and his eyes almost closed.
“What kind of person do you think I – yeah it was an ‘ambush’” he confirms, a cocky smile residing on his face. You shake your head, chuckling.
“Of course it was. I swear she’s gonna be the death of you one day.”
“Trust me, I won’t die through the sack. I got too much stamina from lacrosse.”
You roll your eyes.
“Yeah, sure you do. If that’s the case then I got all my stamina from playing video games.”
“Hm… not stamina. You’re finger game would be on point though” he mentions, on the verge of laughing.
