Jimin curses every red light that stands between him and his Kookie. His mind fills with memories of the boy's smile and laugh. He only wanted to make him laugh more, he never wanted to hurt him. He needs to explain what happened. He needs to tell Jungkook exactly how he feels, even if it still scares himself.
As if the sky can sense the turmoil Jimin is in, it begins to pour. Jimin speeds faster towards the old apartment building. He barely parks his bike before sprinting into the building. Frantic, he realizes he doesn't know Jungkook apartment number. He begins pounding on every door. He runs to the next everytime a grumpy old man or annoyed lady opens the door. Each door he hopes to see his bunny, his love.
On the third flight, Jimin pounds his drenched fist on a door, half expecting the same result, he pounds again. Silence. He pounds on the door another time. He's about to turn when he hears a whisper.
"Go away," he can hear Jungkook's fragile voice through the door.
"Baby, please let me in," Jimin pleads at the door.
"I don't want to see you," he can hear Kookie's voice crack.
"Bun, I swear it's wasn't what it looked like, please just let me in. Let me explain. I'll tell you everything," Jimin begs, his forehead pressed against the door imagining Kookie right on the other side. A long silence. Jimin could hear another's muffled voice, assumably Namjoon talking with Kookie. Please, Jimin begs internally.
The door clicks to Jimin's surprise. He really didn't think Kookie would let him in, but there he stands to open the door. The sight break Jimin's heart. Kookie is in an oversized green sweater, a sweater paw is lifted to cover half of his face. All Jimin could see are red puffy eyes and tear streaked cheeks. Jimin immediately steps into the apartment hoping to hug away all of Kookie's pain. Just before Jimin can pull him into a hug, Kookie has his hand outstretched to stop him. Kookie's hand rests on Jimin chest, still wet from the rain. He's sure Kookie can feel his racing heart.
"You-You said you'd explain,"
"I will," Jimin takes Kookie's hand still on his chest. His eyes soften at the sight of the younger boy. "Do you want to sit down?" Jungkook softly shakes his head.
"No, I want you to say it right here," Jungkook's stern voice hurt Jimin a little more. Jimin knew it was technically his fault for the pain he caused but it still hurt thinking Jungkook didn't trust him.
"Ok, that's fine," still holding Kookie's hand. "It really wasn't what it looked like. I'm not sure exactly what you saw but I guess you didn't see me push him away or nearly punch his face in." Jimin explains looking straight into Kookie's doe eyes. "He...was my ex-boyfriend, Yoongi. We broke up a couple of years ago when he cheated on me. I haven't heard from him since and definitely didn't expect him to come looking for me. I swear Kookie. I'm not playing around with you. I'm not cheating on you." Jimin has to look away when his throat started to burn from the tears starting to form.
"I think... I think I'm in love with you. I care about you so much. Even if it's only been a couple of weeks you've completely taken over my mind. I just want to make you happy and make you smile and laugh more...I'm so sorry. I'm so fucking sorry I never meant to hurt you," looking in Kookie's eyes to show all of his sincerity. He can see Kookie's eyes filling with tears and watches as one rolls down his face.
"Bun, please don't cry," Jimin steps closer to wipe away the tears, Jungkook lets him. They stand in silence for a minute while Jimin carefully wipes away the tears. Jimin can see the struggle behind his eyes, the fight whether to believe him or not. He steps even closer and kisses the corner of Kookie's eye where another tear falls. "Please don't cry, baby. I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
"There's nothing to forgive," Kookie gripped Jimin's hand back. "I trust you," shocking Jimin.
"Then why are you crying love?" pulling Kookie deeper in his embrace, circling one arm around his waist and the other still intertwined.
"Because...I'm scared." he hides his face in Jimin's shoulder. "I'm scared that I think I love you too. I realized it when I saw him kiss you. It hurt so much even though I haven't known you very long. It hurt because I love you too."
Jimin can't believe his ears. His heart wants to break from joy at Kookie's confession. He gently pulls away just enough to caress Kookie's cheek. They look deeply into each other's eyes, communicating every emotion. Jimin brings his lips softly to the other's, meeting in a slow, gentle embrace. They kiss, so soft, as to not break each other.
"I love you," Jimin spoke quietly against Jungkook's lips. He could feel Kookie smile back.
"I love you too."
