Light

The world is a darker place
Without you,
Bereft of light and warmth.

You were the sunrise
That filtered through
The bedroom curtains

Seeping through my
Window panes
And barely opened lids.

You were the north star,
The shadow casting moon,
A lightning bug at dusk,

You were a raging bonfire,
The northern lights,
After a dying flame.

Resplendent in your beauty.
And silent
In your absence.

But now my guiding light,
My beacon,
Has been laid to rest;

And so my light, my own,
Must shine
And outlive all the best.
