*Vech’s POV.*
“Thanks for agreeing to help me with this, Guude.”
“You’re welcome. Is there a reason you’re doing this?” I responded with a shrug.
“Not really. I just want to make her feel welcome.”
“Sure.” I knew what he was implying, yet I simply let it go. I wasn’t going down that road at the moment.
“Well, this is going to be a big project. I can’t do it on my own. Let’s start with the snow generator.” Guude simply nodded and I began looking for a place to put it. Rel Rel had such a nice view, I didn’t want it to get in the way. That’s when my eye caught something.
Turning, I saw a cave. Perfect.
“Come on.” We headed into the cave. Pulling out my pick-axe, I began to carve out a space big enough for the snow generator. “Ready?”
“Ready.”
We worked and we worked and we worked. Hours went by until we finally finished it.
“Whew. That was a lot harder than I thought it would be,” Guude commented, wiping at his brow and standing up.
“Yeah. Too many problems. Anyways, it’s done now. You know what? Actually…” I put down a crafting table, then proceeded to make her a chest. Once they were placed, I filled the chest with some shovels and a little bit of snow. Something still seemed to be missing. “Ah! I know.” Pickaxe in hand once again, I carved out another area. This one, I replaced the stone with dirt and planted pumpkin seeds. “There. If her snowman somehow dies, she can have more.”
“So, is that all you were planning on doing?”
“No. I was planning on making a bridge.” He raised an eyebrow at me.
“A bridge?”
“Yeah. From her castle to the road. I want to connect with her. I mean- not, I don’t want to connect with her. I want her to feel connected to the… town. And feel…like... welcome.” A blush crept on to my cheeks. Stammering. Something I never did.
“Are you sure you’re only doing this as a welcome present?” Before I had a chance to say anything else stupid, I nodded and collected the items to begin on the bridge. “This’ll be another big project.”
“I hope we can get it done in time.”
“Me too.” We began working, and surprisingly, it took much less time than the snow generator. It almost seemed to be done too quickly.
“Well, I think I should head back before it gets too dark. Take care, Vechs.” And so he left. One last project. Then I could go back to my base. So… Far… Away…
I gathered up my leftover snow and pumpkins and began to make snowmen guards. They would be her defenders. I sighed as I set up the pens for them to sit in. I really hoped she’d like all of this…
Night fell and I had no other choice. Walking over, I climbed into one of her beds and fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up and looked over at the other bed. She wasn’t here yet. Perfect. Climbing out, I swallowed my thoughts.
“Vechs? What are you doing here?” Crap.
“I was working on a project, and I slept here.” Relly looked up and her face seemed to light up. The guards, the bridge, and she didn’t even see the snow generator.
“You did all this?”
“Me and Guude. There’s another surprise in the tunnel.”
“What tunnel?” I gave her a questioning look and walked her to the other surprise.
“A snow generator! Thank you so much! But this isn’t my tunnel… It’s Mychol’s…” Another blush formed on my cheeks.
“O-oh….” She giggled lightly, causing my heart to skip a beat.
“Don’t worry about it. It’s still nice.” I couldn’t help but smile. “Did we just share a moment?”
“Yes.” Not the moment I want to share, though, I thought. All of a sudden, my eyes were drawn to hers. Those beautiful eyes. Then they slipped to her lips. Those perfect, soft lips. If only. If only…
“Hey guys,” Guude said from behind, causing me to jump and blush deeper than ever before. Either he ruined a possibly great moment, or saved me from an awkward one.
“Hey Guude. Thanks for this. Vechs said you two did this.”
“Yeah, but it was his idea. He did most of the work. I just helped.” Aureylian smiled and gave each of us a hug.
“I’m gonna go get food. You want food?” Her Pokemon voice. It melted me from the inside-out.
“Thanks Aureylian.”
“You’re welcome.” She then left, going to get food.
“Just go for it man.”
“What?”
“Don’t play dumb. It’s obvious you like her, so just go for it.” My cheeks became an even darker red.
“You-you really think I should?” Guude nodded as she came back in with the food.
“Thanks,” I told her quietly.
“Yeah. Hey, I’ll be right back,” he said, before taking the food and leaving the tunnel. Relly and I were alone.
“Here’s some stew,” she told me, handing the bowl to me. I nodded and grabbed it from her, my finger brushing hers. I bit the inside of my mouth and tried to ignore it. She seemed to not notice it, so I shouldn’t dwell.
We both ate the stew fairly quickly, yet I found myself constantly staring at her.
“What? Is there something on my face?” she asked, feeling around her cheek. Now was my chance.
“Yeah. Here, I got it,” I told her, wiping away and invisible stain on her cheek. I let my hand linger, my heart pounding in my chest. Her cheeks began to turn pink, but I didn’t move. My eyes went back to her lips. Those perfect lips, silently calling for me.
“Don’t hate me, but I have to do this.” Before the sudden burst of courage could go away, I pressed my lips to hers. She seemed startled but didn’t pull away. After a moment, I began to pull away, yet she grabbed my hand and restarted the kiss. Everything was perfect in that moment, and I didn’t care if it never ended.
