this is the period of silence. The english language learners may have up to 100 words in their receptive vocabulary but the are not yet speaking. the students practically keep in their mind the words that are heard in the day to day. they are not really producing English by repeating the words like a parrot.
This stage is the beginning of a new way of thinking, of adapting to a language. Listen carefully to everything you hear. they will be able to respond to different visual forms. as a baby, they will learn from scratch.
