(Final chapter, just warning y'all, there's swearing)
Remus was honestly getting sick of Sirius and his jokes. Him and the other boys had just become animagus and were using their power as much as they could, Remus had already gotten seven complaints about 'a wild dog breaking into the Gryffindor common room' and 'a weird deer with a rat on it's head following me around campus'
But at least they weren't hurting anyone. Well, they had almost hurt someone...
Earlier in the year, Sirius had tricked Severus Snape, a fellow student and rival, into going through the secret passage in the whomping willow and he had almost gotten to the shrieking shack, during the full moon. James had been able to stop him, but Remus still felt horrible. But Sirius, that was a whole different story. After the incident, something about him had changed, and not in a good way. He had become more harsh and cruel to "non-marauders' and wasn't even that nice to James and Peter. He had become more paranoid and possessive, he wouldn't let anyone sit near him when he read letters from home and wouldn't even sleep in the dorm room most nights. It worried Remus.
One night Remus woke up and saw him carefully stepping on socks that had been laid out in a strategic pattern to avoid creaking floorboards. He sat up and Sirius looked at him like a deer in headlights. Remus put a finger to his lips and pointed at the window, Sirius nodded and they both climbed onto the roof, shutting the glass pane behind them.
"Tell me what's wrong" Remus demanded
"There's nothing wrong" Sirius said, his voice gravely and rough
"Nothing wrong?" Remus said, his voice going up a pitch "you never sleep, you're an ass to literally everyone, and- are you smoking?! Those things kill you know!"
"I don't care!" Sirius yelled, "why should I care! It's not like I'll be around long enough to get fucking lung cancer!"
"What?"
"My parents kicked me out, once school lets out I'll officially be homeless"
"Why didn't you say-"
"I didn't say anything because I didn't want you to pity me-and don't say you aren't! I can see that look in your eyes!"
"What look in my eyes?" Remus screamed back "You being homeless doesn't excuse attempted murder!"
"I was just-"
"Just trying to scare him?" Remus yelled, his vision blurring with tears "you could've killed him! And you used me, you turned me into a monster, a weapon for your little feud!"
"I-"
"You didn't think about it like that?!" Remus cried "of course you didn't! All you do is act! You never think anything through and somehow I always end up being the little sucker who gets hurt! I'm sick of it!"
"I'm s-"
"Sorry isn't enough!" Remus cried and sat down, gripping the edge of the room.
"Would this be," Sirius mumbled as he walked toward the ledge.
"WINGARDIUM LEVIOSA"
Sirius' body floated next to the edge of the roof.
"What the fuck man! Isn't this what you wanted?!"
"No!"
"Let me fall you ass!"
Remus waved his wand and set Sirius down next to him, grabbing him as he tried to walk off the edge.
"You know I'll keep trying to jump"
"Yeah, and I'll keep catching you"
Sirius turned and tried to kiss Remus.
"Woah dude what are you doing?"
"It just seemed like a moment,"
Remus laughed "If you come back inside we can have a 'moment'"
"That would be fun and all," Sirius said "but I don't think it would really be a 'moment' if it was planned and awkward"
"You make no sense"
"Neither do you"
