Hey everybody! first i have to say thanks for reading :) second, i've had this idea stuck in my head for a while so i'm super pumped to start writting it out! Like most stories, you have to read it to get hooked, so please take the time to read ALL of it! I have an unexpected surprise planned later on in the story ;) if you like what i've written so far and want more, you HAVE to vote and comment your thoughts, or i'll think this is a waste of an idea and stop posting! Just keep in mind this is one of my first stories and there are probably a few errors in there. Enjoy :)
The doorbell rang and I ran to the door to answer it. I smiled when I swung open the door and saw my best friend Jayson's face. "Hey Jayce! Come on in!" I told him while giving him a nice, big welcome hug.
"Thanks Hanna. My mom thanks you too." Jayson's mom had to go to a funeral this weekend and she didn't trust him to stay home alone.
"Hey, it's no problem. I love hanging out with you!" Jayson smiled and walked inside, taking off his grey Converse with ease and appearing at my side with luggage in hand.
"So where do I put this?" He asked me.
I took the bag and headed upstairs with Jayson on my heels. The guest room is right next door to my room, so if Jayson had any problems he could wake me up. He comes over so often, we started calling the guest room his room, but sometimes at night if he couldn't sleep he would come lay next to me in my giant queen bed. My mom didn't mind, after all we have been friends forever!
I set the duffle bag down on his bed and glanced around the room. The walls were painted a baby blue by me when I was 7. I did this because while shopping I found the most beautiful comforter that was basically a picture of an amazing white sand beach with see-though water on a blanket. At age 7, that's what I aspired to live as; an interior designer. To this day, I still want to be one.
Although Jayson had been in this room numerous times, I still had to ask, "So, do you like it?"
He glanced around the room as I had, but really evaluating it for the first time. "Definitely. Whoever designed it has great taste." He smiled at me, knowing the story behind the room.
I've known Jayson since I was 2; our moms had always been great friends from the beginning, especially since we're neighbors. Since then, Jayson and I have gone through a lot. Even though our friendship was easy and natural, people still talk.
"I'm going to use your bathroom, so I'll bee right back." Jayson stated. He practically lived here, so he didn't bother using his manners and asking. After all, it was like this was his own house.
"Okay, after you get back we can go talk in my room."
He smiled and nodded, then headed to the bathroom. I left my guest room and walked into my room. While I waited for Jayson, I decided to flip through my favorite book lying on my bed. Within a few minutes, Jayson was back and sat next to me on my mini-couch. He looked around the room.
"Hey, what are those? I've never seen them before."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, confused.
"That pile of letters on your desk! Do you have some stalker I don't know about and need to get rid of Hanna-Marie?" He winked at me and nudged my side. I hated when he used my full name! It sounded way too formal, but I cracked up laughing anyways.
"No way! Actually, I'm not even sure what's inside them. I found them up in the attic a few days ago. Hey, why don't we look though them? They can't be that bad!"
"Good idea. You've gotten me interested already."
We both walked over to my desk. I picked up the stack of letters, tied together by an old piece of string. The paper was aged, I could tell from the color...and smell of dust. The letter on top was dated March 22nd, 1966. The next was labeled February 9th, 1964. As I sorted out the pile, I found that the letter dates ranged from December 16th, 1963- July 7th, 1967. A total of 4 years were spent writing letters. The people the letters were addressed to alternated between Michael and Angelina.
