Chapter 29

Ahmir looked up from his book and saw them. "Uncle Lou!" He shouted and put his book down and went running towards him. Destiny did the same and ran to him as well.

"Hey guys," Lou said hugging them both. They made him feel like he hadn't lost as much. He still had kids to love in his life.  "I missed you guys."

Kaia smiled. "I'll go get Karim up from his nap," she said.

"Uncle Lou I missed you so much," Destiny said as she clung to him.

"Where have you been?" Ahmir asked as he hugged him too.

"Working, I unlike mummy have a job. It requires me to travel and talk to people, but seeing as I have a couple days off, I figured I would come see my two favorite people," Louis smiled down at them.

Destiny looked at him. "Momma sings. Isn't that like a job?" She asked. "How come you don't sing anymore Uncle Lou?"

Ahmir looked at his uncle. "Does singing make you sad?"

"Singing is your mummy's passion," Louis said.  "I have been working on other things. Singing was my past and I am working on my future." He said.  "Your T used loved to hear me sing." 

"Uncle Lou," Destiny said and hugged him tightly. "Can you sing to me?"

"Maybe when mummy comes back we can do a duet." He said.

"Really?" Destiny asked and began to jump up and down.

"Calm down," Ahmir said to her. "You've heard mummy sings thousands of times. With Papa too."

Destiny gave him a shove. "But never with Uncle Lou you meanie!"

"We need mummy to agree to sing with me. She might not want to," he said with a wink at Ahmir.

"So buddy what are you up to? How's it going?"

"I've been doing a lot of reading. Mummy says it's good practice since we start school soon," he said. "It helps me not worry about T so much."

"I worry about T a lot too," Louis told him "But Uncle Harry is really good at taking care of our love.  We have to have faith he is looking out for her.

"Momma knows he is but I know she's sad sometimes."

"We all get sad sometimes, it's okay to be sad. But then we need to find something to make us happy again," Louis said.  "We will make it though."

"Uncle Lou, do you want to see our books we're reading?" Destiny asked as she took his hand.

"Yeah, come see what we're reading!" Ahmir said and they dragged him to the couch.

"Alrighty. What are we reading. Any Doctor Suess? Green Eggs and Ham?" He asked.

"No," Destiny said as she held up her book. "The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe," She said with a big smile.

"Wow that is a big girl book, Destiny." Louis said.

"I love it," she said. "Mummy said I have to finish it first and then we can watch the movie."

"The movie is good," Louis said then turned to Ahmir.  "What about you buddy?"

Ahmir held up his book. "It's not as exciting as hers," he said. "But I like it." He handed it to his uncle. "It's called The Wind In the Will....Willows."

"You my friend have one of my favorite books. Ratty and Mr Toad. Just don't drive wild like he does, your T loves this ride in Disneyland," Louis grinned remembering when Marian took him to Disneyland Fantasyland attractions.
