"Darling, I'm home!"

Spencer shouted as he finally finished work for today. He was more than happy to go home to Ruby, his girlfriend of a year.

"Ruby?!", he said again as he did not get an answer. Carefully, he placed his bags down on the ground and made his way through the shared apartment to go and look for her. It was already past 8 in the evening which told him that she already must be home from work. As he came closer to their bedroom he could hear slight whimpers. He knocked on the door and slowly opened it, the sight in front of him breaking his heart.

Ruby was laying in bed, cuddled up into a blanket. Her back was facing the door but from the way her body was moving, he could tell that she was crying. Concerened, Spencer entered the room and walked around to face her.

"Hey..", he carefully said as he kneeled down in front of her placing a comforting hand on her arm. Suddenly, something inside Y/N snapped and she furiously wiped away her tears and sat up.

"Spence..hey. You are already home? I did not here you coming in. What time is it?", she replied putting a fake smile on her face.

"It's 8:40pm and yes, we just landed and I headed straight home. But what's wrong? Why are you crying?", he asked.

"Oh that....it's nothing, really. Just....a hard day at work."

"You know I hate seeing you like this and I know that you are not telling the truth."

"Spencer, really. I'm okay. I was just exhausted and there were some difficulties at work, but I don't wanna bother you with it.You are probably tired from work, so let's go to sleep."

"No way. I've got plenty of time plus I'm not tired yet. So let's go to the kitchen. I brought you dinner. Let's eat and talk about it. What do you say?", Spencer said holding Ruby's hand tight. After thinking about it for a few minutes, Ruby finally agreed: "Fine, but only because I'm starving and I love you!"

Spencer smiled and kissed his girlfriend's head. He than pulled her up and walked her towards the kitchen still wondering what was bothering Ruby this much.
