Chapter 13

A repulsive groan escaped her lips as she rolled under her covers.

It's Monday morning, time for school. It's also her 17th birthday, so that's something to be happy about. She said as she yawned, rubbing her tired eyes. Today was indeed a special day for her so she decided to spice it up a bit. She was wearing a  floral skater skirt, sunglasses graphic t-shirt and a pair of pink sandals. She tied her long beautiful hair in a high ponytail, her make-up was light; a touch of mascara and pink lip-gloss that made her lips soft and tender. When she entered the kitchen, everyone was already seated by the table, then suddenly they all yelled out, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SABRINA!"

She grinned appreciating the moment.

There were loads of sweet, delightful treats laid on the table made by her mom of course.

"Thanks guys but you didn't have to," she said fulling her mouth with her favorite chocolate-chip cookies.

Her dad replied, "That's alright hun but that isn't all," he continued, "come with me hun!" I obeyed and followed him towards the front door.

"Why was he carrying me to the front door?" she uttered to herself.

He slightly cracked the door open, as my eyes widened in pleasure. She froze in disbelief when she saw, there was a lancer parked outside her house. She was totally ecstatic, as her mouth dropped open, lost for words...she instantly covered her face. She paled, raising a hand to cover her beating heart as she took in the scene in front of her.

"Is this all a dream?" she thought to herself rubbing her eyes a second time just to make sure.

"Is that mines?" she inquires overwhelmed.

Her mom responded, " Yes it's yours!" returning a smile.

"Thanks mom, you're the best!" she embraced her with a tight bear hug.

"Don't thank me thank your father!" she said spontaneously.

She pulled apart and locked her father showing him gratitude of her love. She gladly took the car keys and went for a test drive to school. She pulled the seat-belt around her and safely drove off signaling her parents with the sound of her horn. Midway she turned on the radio while Give Your Heart A Break started playing. She went solo during the whole ride to school.

*****************************************************************************

After a few minutes she pulled up in the school's parking lot and jumped out of her car, grabbing her bag with her. The hallway seemed to go on forever, the shiny green tile floor loomed in front of her. She paraded down the hallways when she met her best friend, pounding against her locker for who knows what? Let me tell you something that you should know about my best friend: she's funny as hell, she's a daredevil, crazy as hell and has a bad temper most of the times...(that's pretty much everything about her.)

I stopped walking and turned to her. "Hey Annie, what's wrong?" she asked frowning.

Annie replied, "I can't get my f*cking locker to open, damn it!" as she continuously pounded her locker.

"Didn't you change your pin just last week!" she instantly corrected her.

Annie responded remembering, "Oh yeah, I did!" she smiled.

"Ding! Ding!" The bell rang and they walked to class together. They had two long boring periods of maths. My mood changed from happy to lazy in a second. She almost fell asleep after hearing Mr. Crankypants annoying voice. She began shuffling on her feet, waiting for the teacher to stop talking. However, her wishes weren't meet. She ended up staring off into space, daydreaming about being out side, doing what she felt led to do. Soon, her fingers tapped the desk and was in unison with the rhythm of her feet.

"Ugh," she breathed a sign of misery, one she had been holding in since she first sat in her seat. Her eyes shifted from the ceiling to the clock. Ten minutes was all she had left. Ten minutes until she had her well deserved freedom. It was like a dull Monday.

~10 minutes later~

The bell rang as she flew straight out the door. "Ughh i'm so hungry!" she groaned holding her stomach. Soon enough her tummy started growling and making weird noises. Then she went into the cafeteria and sat by a table by herself. She quickly opened her bag and saw a slice of pizza her mom packed for her. In about 5 minutes that thing was down her throat.

Time evaporated as noon came by. It was only a few minutes away till school was over.

The bell rang as hurdles of children dashed out the door like idiots. Meanwhile Sabrina took her time and walked behind, then suddenly remembered Alex out of the blues.

"How come I didn't see Alex today?" she asked herself looking at the ground.

"Where is....." she got interrupted by the sound of someone banging against the locker.

She quickly paused and walked slowly towards the the sound. When all of a sudden she saw a guy who almost looks like Alex, holding a girl against the locker.

"Is that Alex?" she asked assuring herself.

"Alex?" she murmured softly.

Then the guy turned around and faced Sabrina with a huge look of amusement on his face.

Her mouth dropped open, forming around a failed reply. Nothing. She promptly turned away, bemused.

It was Alex standing by the locker in perplexed motions. He stared uncertain what to say. He realized what he was doing and tries to stop her until she ran away crying.

At that moment, she could not believe her eyes. Although she knew what she was seeing was true, she desperately wanted for it to not be true. Her heart stopped beating, when she saw him with another girl.  The many emotions that hit her, all came in that short moment she was watching them. She furiously ran to her car and slammed the door after her, letting out all the emotions she had bubbled up inside. Her eyes filled with water, one slow painful tear slipped out running down her cheek. She tried to wipe it away as quickly as possible.

She was mentally screaming. Her eyes leaked with pain and depression. As she sobbed she felt the warm hotness of grief spill from her eyes, sliding down her trembling cheeks. Her broken heart was still and for a moment, she only felt numbness. And then an anger and sadness surged through her with so much power, she knew not what to do.

"Why is this happening to me?" she held her head crying.

Her mind went black, as did her heart. It was like someone had suctioned out all her insides with a vacuum in one swift move. Just like that.
